That's familiar territory. I was pretty soundly the best player amongst my friends IRL but one of the guys from my linkshell showed me what tourney-level Snake looked like, and completely ruined me. We were playing entirely different games. I just want to play with people no better than I am, is that too much to ask?

How to get better at Brawl when you can't find games at your level:

1. Go to AiB
2. Go to the ladder or Free Chat
3. Play 1v1s or dubs with almost everyone

Works until you hit midrange competitive and then you'll probably need real offline stuff.

Might be really hard getting up to that speed though without a large time investment given how long the game has been around.

I haven't played the competitive guys, but I imagine that's about where I'm at as well. Consistently the best among my friends (Melee or Brawl), but I can imagine taking a step up would be a different game all together.

What keeps it more interesting for me is to try to not play the same character twice in a single "session." Unless of course youre playing for several hours straight; then that isn't possible.

I used to do Random Money Match Free for Alls--everyone puts in a quarter a match and everyone goes Random. Always has entertaining results--even better is turning it into a drinking game.

Pour in your bet, loser has to drink it all.

1st place - no shots
2nd place - 1 shot
3rd place - 2 shots
4th place - 3 shots

Shots based on - at end of match, half shot for each. Winner does not take shots. Imagine the chaos after a few 5 stock matches. Might need to limit it to 3 stock to prevent death.
Anyone involved in sudden death both take half a shot before fighting.

Pretty much where me and 4-5 of my friends stand right now. Played brawl until the servers went down, and now we're losing our shit waiting lol.
