I want that GC controller, but it's weird. Who the fuck uses wired controllers in 2014? My Wii U sits on top of my entertainment system, I'd need a 15 foot wire and it'd hang in front of my TV.

Thinking about it: Wired controllers (except to charge) have been out for an entire generation, arguably 2 if you want to bridge Wii > Wii U. What the hell, Nintendo?

I personally have always used a wired GC controller, so I don't really give a fuck that Nintendo is handing out wired GC controllers. Why take a chance when it works just as well.

Wavebird lags, any wireless controller lags. This is why in fighting games we use wired arcade sticks. And anyways, looks like the wired adapter has a cable that sticks out, thus giving it an extension in a way, it also connects to the 2 usb ports, 6ft usb extension cables are like what, $1 each? Plenty to go around there.

Ive always used wired controllers for Smash as well. Bought myself two for the last smash session at my place, just before this game was announced. After that the price for them doubled...

Wireless controllers for multiplayer games are automatic disadvantages regardless of the type of game.

Signals that they're using travels faster on a wire than through air.

Wavebird is so incredibly casual.

AFAIK, tournaments only tend to allow wired controllers, with possible exceptions for those that use a specific wireless dongle (like the Mad Catz fightpads). Setting aside latency, there's the issue of pairing/unpairing controllers, and possible interference. Going with a wired adapter solves that potential hangup for tournament play.

They make extension cables for game cube controllers. Easy enough to find on amazon. I got some for my Wii after I got tired of having to move the system into the middle of the living room to reach the couch.
