I don't eitherI just do software support. I get lost in the world of processors and video cards and shit.

based on what I read, intel & amd are relatively identical for everyday use but intel has a higher ceiling because it can do more simultaneously. this is an incredibly rudimentary explanation and probably wrong so pretend I never wrote this post.
however go with amd because it's cheaper and still good
AMD CPU. Don't pull that trigger buddy.
I built a gaming rig in 2011 and went Intel as well.
I'm still rockin' an amd phenom 9750 quad core from 2007 or whatever. Still runs like a motherfucker.
The last few generations of AMD cpus have been less than stellar and underperformed in comparison to Intel. If you don't care much do it. If every little gain you can honestly muster matters, then go Intel. The only place I would recommend AMD/ATI is for graphics cards. They don't always provide the most powerful graphics cards but they always make the best bang for your buck there.
TY sirs.
I'm silver 4
fuck this i'm buying an xbone, it's absolutely too much fun to see these faggots raging
also a viable choice
e3 thread has been fan fucking tastic today
At the 750-1k range, intel all the way. An i5 3570 would be appropriate. i5 3570k if you plan to overclock. Or whatever the Haswell equivalent here, not that it makes a terribly huge difference over ivy bridge on a desktop.
In most cases a HD7950 represents better value than a gtx670. A decent 7950 can be overclocked past stock 670 performance. Consider this upgrade if you want to high grade past the gtx660 you picked.
Consider getting an SSD now or in the future. Outside of games, it'll be the most noticeable performance upgrade you can make.
That PSU could be better and not much more expensive. If you overclock (and you should), upgrade GPU or SLI (god forbid), slave multiple HDD's /whatever, you can run into issues.
