It would probably maintain a more consistent 30fps if it wasn't running that high-quality motion blur.

At any rate, video of the gameplay footage, mute your audio because annoying recorder commentary.

I was under impression that the game would have more supernatural element in it. It looks pretty but nothing special so far. Gameplay looks very standard and boring

It does, they are hiding a lot right now to not ruin the story.

“Supernatural” Won’t be “Magic;” It’ll be Believable
The Order: 1886‘s story definitely has a strong supernatural component, but just how far will it go? Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya explained in an interview on GameTrailers that there won’t be “magic” in the game, and that the story will remain believable.

We kind of hinted at the supernatural with the first trailer we’ve shown at E3. People do bring up the idea of “how far is it gonna go? Is it gonna be magic?”

We don’t go there. We don’t want to go there. Magic is something where it’s hard for us to make it believable. The supernatural often times can be believable. And still today people liv with the supernatural, and people believe that the supernatural really is there.

We always strive to basically walk that fine line of “how far can we push it?” And you’ll see that there are things in the game… we’re pushing the barrier of those things, but there’s always a test that we have back at work, which is telling ourselves “do I believe it?” We’ll present to other people in the company and they’ll kinda go “yeah…You’re pushing the envelope.. what are you doing?” And at that point we dial back.

So we will stay away from what we see as fantasy and magical, but we will definitely basically draw from the supernatural to bring that edge to the reality that we’re building.
In addition to that Weerasuriya also mentions that the game will push the envelope of immersion by removing the gap between cinematics and gameplay.

Already maxing out the PS4? Maybe
The upcoming PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 definitely pushes the technolofy envelope in many aspects of its rendering, and Ready at Dawn’s Graphics and Engine Programmer Matt Pettineo has been sharing what kind of techniques are being used to achieve the level of realism we’re seeing in the game.

    We use SDSM + EVSM
This technique, researched by Intel Tech Lead Andrew Lauritzen, implements Sample Distribution Shadow Maps with Exponential Variance Shadow Maps reducing light bleeding and artifacts, producing higher quality shadows than traditional Z-partitioning, saving development time and also guaranteeing efficient memory usage.

We use GGX for most materials. For skin we’re using pre-integrated SSS. There’s more details in our course notes from SIGGRAPH.
The GGX shader is a microfacet model that recreates light reflection from surfaces in a realistic and believable way, while pre-integrated skin shaders calculates shading for the skin based on pre-integrated physically based profiles. Basically it divides all skin lighting between head level lighting, bump level lighting and shadow. While head level lighting takes care of large surfaces, bump level simulates lighting on smaller details.

Interestingly enough, Pettineo had a discussion with Lauritzen himself on Twitter. Lauritzen advised to use pixel shaders instead of compute, and Pettineo’s repsonse seem to hint that The Order: 1886 may already be using asynchronous compute on the PS4′s GPU.

Moving on from the super-technical, Chief Technology Officer Andrea Pessino made a statement to squash a rumor alleging that The Order: 1886 is already close to maxing out the power of the PS4.

Maxing out?! We are just getting started… ; )

    Delay confirmed
The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn’s upcoming Victorian era London-set third-person shooter for PlayStation 4, has been delayed from its planned 2014 release to early 2015, Sony announced.

“As we look to bring this experience to the players, we have decided to spend some extra time to deliver on the promise we made when we first introduced the game,” Ready At Dawn boss Ru Weerasuriya said. “As such, you can expect The Order: 1886 to come exclusively to the PlayStation 4 in early 2015.”

Really tempted to get the CE. That figurine looks really nice and would make a nice desk piece, and I don't even collect or own any figurines from other games.
