Can't get past the fuck awful black bars combined with silky smooth 30 fps gameplay. Dragons dogma got a free pass because it pushed the limitation of last gen consoles, this is just another 3rd person corridor shooter. :/
Knight's Theme
About 20 hours of gameplay. At least that's how long it took a guy on Gaf to complete it;

I saw the first hour on youtube before it got pulled, and it looked supremely dull to me. It's one of those games were I'm kind of interested in its story but the gameplay just looks so uninspired and dull. Really looked to me like they would have rather made a movie. The first twelve minutes of the video was just the intro QTE.
I dunno, ive seen nothing but glowing reviews about it.
Here's a less stellar review of the game from a youtuber who played it. I doubt the playthrough videos will be up long so if you want to watch them, now's your chance.
First video in the walthrough playlist. No spoilers.
Took me a little over 5 hours on my first playthrough (including all cutscenes)
Not much replayability. You can't level up any skills or anything and there is no New Game+. And you cannot skip cutscenes either, so it would be the exact same experience I'm afraid. Pretty much the only side thing you can do is looking for collectibles, but that's it. No challenges or whatever.
Well maybe it's 2 hours or 2,5. I didn't measure the time, but the majority of it is cutscenes. So 1,5 hours or 2,5 hours doesn't seem like a big difference either way. Obviously depends on the player.
If you really get into finding collectibles I'm sure you can spend much more time with it. Or if you play on hard difficulty (which I wasn't). But my best guess, based on what I have captured it's around 1,5h-2h gameplay and rest was cutscenes. Take the first 4 chapters for example, maybe 35% of that was gameplay. Some chapters consist only of cutscenes. And often times there are these "interactive" cutscenes with QTEs where you need to press some buttons, but I wouldn't count that as gameplay.
It's more of an interactive movie to me, which isn't a bad thing. Hence the film stripes. So calm down everyone. Jesus :D
Well sort of... the game doesn't always tell you where to go or what to do exactly. Sometimes you have to figure that out on your own (like moving a cart to climb up to the next area). Or you have to interact with certain objects or need to wait for your teammates to do something. But all in all it doesn't require too much thinking and all objects you can interact with are highlighted when you stand close to them.
I honestly wouldnt trust that. It was debunked a long time ago that the game was that short.
I mean, you can watch the youtube playthrough to verify it. He's yet to upload four chapters (5, 14, 15, 16) but the combined running time of what he's uploaded is about 3.5 hours unedited. The remaining chapters would each have to be at least 20 minutes just to hit the five hour mark.
I never saw any actual "debunking" of the previous claims of short run times beyond statements from the developer which are hardly trustworthy themselves. The post on NeoGAF really has nothing behind it either. This is the most substantive review of playtime out there currently as far as I'm aware.
Yeah, that GAF post has nothing in it other than some guy claiming to have played it. You've got that versus video evidence to the contrary.
Id rather wait till we get some actual official reviews considering if heard from other people that played it that its not that short.
Parts 1 through 5 of his walk through alone is 3 hours. I some how doubt parts 6-15 or whatever is only 2.
12:28, 29:23, 16:33, 46:01, 24:26, part 6 is missing, 7:33, 6:42, 21:38, 43:08, 4:08, 44:16, 5:37, 5:18, 5:32, 8:25. Total is 4 hours and ~40 minutes with one segment missing. The game counts some of the cutscenes as chapters.
I'm not sure why you're having such a hard time believing this game is short. What exactly are reviews gonna do to change this? It's as bad as the guys on reddit saying this shit:
This actually makes me want the game more. So many games have 4 hours of content then 8-12 hours of fluff to make sure its long enough to "be worth the money"
I'd much rather pay 60 for 5 great hours than 60 for 12 good hours.
