This is the part I dislike, and bad on their planning and marketing teams. They allowed just about everyone who signed up for the 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime to be able to lock in and purchase. That's bullshit, it should only be for people who are paying and/or longstanding members, not dudes who will just cancel their Prime membership after the sale. Problem is, they won't care as they know that today is operating on full loss for them. It's a wide ranging ploy to get more short term subscribers into the fold.

Pretty weak if you ask me. Idea is awesome for the business, but executed poorly and not in favor of actual members who they should be prioritizing.

I hope they have a decent warrenty and you keep all information on that 3TB HDD backed up because Seagates 1-3TB HDDs are very unreliable but the 6TB are pretty stable and this is likely due to the flood at their factory that damaged a lot of their supply but they still used and shipped out defective drives because it's Seagate.
