Hi guys,
There was a problem with the OS (Win 7) on my friend laptop and it wouldn't start, wouldn't run Safe Mode and there were a lot of files to back up since it's work and school related, plus some images. And there was no way to access the files in order to make back up for them, so I thought of booting up Ubuntu via USB and access the hard drive and copy/paste the files over. The main disk is divided into 3 with 1 for OS, 1 for Data, and 1 for Drivers by the manufacture. So after I boosted up Ubuntu and copied the files from the C drive to D drive, I also make another back up of the files on a separate USB.
However, when I plug the USB into my computer and try to access the folder on Windows it wouldn't let me. I gave me the error "E:\Backup is not accessible. The Filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect". So I thought the files weren't copied over, but when I boot up Ubuntu again and plug the USB back it, I can access the files and folder normally and there are contents in there, not just an empty 0 byte folder like it would show on Windows. It seems like the folder is locked and only available to be use on Linux.
Is there anyway to unlock it and be accessible on Windows? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
