The more I think about it, the more Amano's work does resemble feudal Japanese designs, at least in terms of the color and patters. That shit, by modern standards, was gaudy as hell, but as only nobility and prominent warriors (Samurai~!!) could afford such lavish color, it makes sense to outfit yourself in the most elaborate colors you can don as yet another way to show off your impressive rank.

Testing ACC is nice and all, but without touching a parser I could have told you you'd hit 95% @341 against Lv50 mobs. ACC in this game is absolutely something you will need some of given larger level disparities in dungeon/raid content but it isn't something you'll need to fret over like a Bravura Warrior tanking Garuda in 1.0 and hoping his Antagonized Skull Sunder won't miss because it has a 50000000 accuracy penalty. Given that all skills are part of a combo/rotation, accuracy will be far from meaningless but getting to 95% on a particular instance might just be having a relic weapon and a piece of gear with accuracy.

341 is the base stat level for pretty much everyone and everything, you can think of it as zero: 5% crit rate, 95% accuracy, 2.5s GCD, etc.

I wish they spent more time designing cool looking gear, you'd think given SE's record that would be one thing they'd have covered.

Atm aside from AF everything is pretty generic cloth/leather/mail/plate. Stuff like Foestriker's is very cool looking but unique pieces are pretty nonexistent.

Well I don't think it has to be uneven for it to look cool, and half of this stuff is retreads from 1.0, which was run by the most boring guy in the business, so I'm willing to give Yoshi the benefit of the doubt. I'll wait and see, but I don' think I'll personally be disappointed in that regard.

I just mean that the gear we have is pretty run of the mill. By 20 you've seen every kind of gear set and everything after that is just the same pieces with slightly fancier trim.

I dunno, I give them credit, at least in the female department. This may be the first MMO I've played with plate mail covering both men AND women. I've seen very few battle bikinis, and I'm ever so grateful for that.

To save time, it's basically just one template form fitted to every race/gender (gender specific outfits are quite few). I doubt we will ever see battle bikini's as that has never really been SE's style in any game but I wouldn't rule out some outfits showing off some cleavage down the line.

game has had bikinis in it since first summer of 1.0.. very skimpy ones too..
just need a few extra cups on the boob slider & add an ass slider..

So, please don't flame me for what is probably a stupid question, but does this game require partying for experience points similar to XI? I've only reached level 20 in the beta, and haven't required it so far.

No it doesn't. Solo leves, group leves, FATEs require no party (often times), story missions, solo missions, hunting log, and I'm sure I missed some.
