I did them on my Conj, my first class. They don't give a bonus after the first time, so they're basically completely worthless to do on any other class I play. Does this reset after 1 day? You said daily. I also think more people would do guildleves if it didn't >>REQUIRE<< 4 people just to be able to zone into them. You can duo most of the low level ones easily, and probably trio almost all of them. Why force me to bring 4 people?

You are thinking guildhest. Guildleves are something totally different. They can be done solo, give decent exp and random items sometimes.

Exhaustion of one-time content is a huge issue for the leveling curve, I agree. Forcing players into particular leveling paths by closing off previously accessible ones just sucks (you can't level a job until you stack 99 guildleves, you have to grind dungeons, you have to cycle FATEs).

Oh, oops! Well I don't play solo, and since they're solo only that isn't an option for me

You are confusing levequest which are meant for solo and guildhest which require 4 people. Levequest can be done as many times as you have allowances available and each new area/camp you got to has different ones for that level range that give xp accordingly.

Are you talking about guildhests or guildleves because those are two very different things? Guildhests give great bonuses the first time they are done. After that not so great but I think they are mostly supposed to be a learning tool. Guildleves you use leve allowances for and when you start a new camp you get a 1 time quest that is decent but the leves themselves always give pretty decent rewards (get 3 allowances every 12 hrs?).

    Holy page refresh batman.

They aren't solo only, they can however be completed solo.

They can be soloed, but you can do them in group too. You can even set the difficulty level so it's not too easy for more people. In 1.0 there were also link bonuses for multiple people having the same leve, but I don't remember if it's back in ARR.

Leve linking is still in the auto-translate but no idea on if there is still a bonus for it, or what it might be.

There is no bonus for leve-linking except for the time saved.

Oh...these names are weird. I was confusing guildleves with with guildhests now I'm confusing them with Grand Company leves.; ; sorry. Which I was told were solo only. Guildleves are also on a timer, so like...if I play a lot, or run out, I basically can't do anything ?_? I can do fates which get boring fast and are realllly annoying to do in zones without a healer starter class(limsa being the worst by far), and grind mobs. I enjoy grinding mobs, exp chains are really fun, it'd be cool if they added "party mobs" in the world like crabs in FF14 1.0(the big crabs not the ff11 crabs like bubbly bernie) with abnormally high that you could grind on, I'd enjoy grinding on them and trying to chain high for exp. Maybe add more "camps" of mobs you can grind on too, I really don't mind grinding, but if there isn't a FOV/GOV type option added for leveling other classes(bounty things aren't enough), they should at least add some camps for us to grind on. Grinding is super fun with exp chains, and this games combat is really fun to just attack things in imo.

Would also love there to be some type of skillchain/BR system. Limit breaks are pretty......meh. Too limited, they don't come up fast enough to really impact your gameplay much(at low level), and feel more like "2 hours".

Yoshida has reiterated a few times that there will be no open-world grinding at all, so the only option for party-based grinding is inside dungeons.

It's just a matter of getting used to. Some people adapt fast and you see them at Lv30 on the second day while others are still wandering about. I've seen people bashing the game for not having some basic features even though those features were included yet they didn't know where to look for them.

I'm not saying the game is perfect. I'm just saying some people came into the game with certain expectations and now they are disappointed and angry.

I don't know ... my group of friends and I made a party of 4 and were grinding on the level 12 Ants at around 8 with no healer. It was quite fun managing the aggro and adds. We were 3 Pugs and me as a Thauma. Was a lot of fun and we all hit 10-12 in no time at all (the time went really fast we didn't know where it had gone.) I am sure there are other places where this is more than doable. Especially once people get more scattered and aren't all in the same few zones.

As for leveling "sub jobs"... well at least the initial 15 levels, you should have around as many quests to do in a secondary/tertiary starting city to get your 2 "subjobs" to 15. After that I dont know where you will be. Leveling 1-8 is super easy and quick even without questing mind you. Doing it XI style just killing lowbie stuff outside of town and chaining them to 5 solo took less than an hour. Doing 1-8 with starting city/class quests on a second city/class took far less time. After your first 3 classes you may have some issues with finding/grinding content, but once you hit 15 and can spam dungeons a couple of times I dont think there will be all that difficult a process.

yup, I did like relearning my classes and relvling, even though it was challenging without repeatable quests and duty finder. Then again if they make it too easy, the new people onry servers going to have a lot of lv 50's in the first week

Finally got back on my 1.0 character and spent the weekend exploring, crafting, and gathering.

I spent a good chunk of the weekend exploring, and I still didn't get to see everything. I love the world redesign. Every zone feels unique and there are interesting features within each zone. There were times where I just stopped and spun the camera around. I'm excited for more zones to get released through patches and expansions. I think if the team continues to build the world as they have, they'll have a truly memorable world.

Crafting is much more fun. The crafting log is a smart addition, and the system actually requires some finesse to HQ. The recipes are also nicely structured, not like the 8 mats for a level 5 synth in 1.0 that required 6 different classes. The crafting logs are nicely designed as well. It's nice to have everything at your fingertips, instead of having multiple websites opened on the side. The whole process feels a lot more fun, especially if you have more than one crafting class leveled.

Crafting quests are interesting. I did the GSM up to the Lv.30 limit. If you asked me about the 1.0 GSM quests, I couldn't even tell you they were so forgettable. The Guildmasters actually have personality this time.

Gathering is more purposeful as well. I hated in 1.0 how you could be looking for one item, trying to lookup "node-sweet-spots," and only dig up NPC trash. People are complaining that it's too easy to find what you want, but who wants to spend a whole day barely getting a stack of items? The new system is much nicer. I needed an item for a craft, looked it up in gather log, headed out, did some searching, and got what I needed; without wasting 6 hours.

Well, with week 2 done and some more play under my belt (and less, but still a few crash bugs), the game does feel good. It's not groundbreaking, but it is solid.

I started off with continuing on gladiator, doing main and side quests in Ul'dah, and started doing the levequests, and got up to Sastasha. I'll pick that up again next test when the duty finder goes live (though if there are any competent BGers on Cactuar, speak up.) They do need to add a bit more variety to the in-quest/leve play, it's not too bad doing everything once, but I've started hitting other cities (for extra quest exp for conjurer, and gear too) and now it shows. Emote-leves are kind of annoying though, with hotbar space at a premium on the PS3.
I went and unlocked all the jobs during my trip, and specifically made sure to get conjurer up to get cure for my gladiator. It's more useful than not having it, but does feel rather useless. It's certainly hardly able to match what I'm taking even wearing the high defense armor sets. Will work towards getting protect, hopefully that will make things a little better.
Also, I'm nearly at 19, and iirc from when I wandered over to look at the quest bubble, that's when the materia system unlocks. I could stand to get some 100%ed gear I don't need anymore out of my armory. I looked at the devblog on how it's changing from 1.0, but that's not to handy for someone who hasn't played 1.0. Could anyone point me at a guide for the system?

Then I went mining. I like it better than XI gathering, though it could use more harvesting camps with a wider array of items. Maybe even some wandering, non-camp spots. It would also help the disparity between the fullness of the hunting and crafting logs, versus the dinkyness of the gathering log. Failing that, considering you actually need to flip mining items from unknown to known, and that there are much fewer log items compared to combat and crafting, a big increase in exp for gathering log items makes a lot of sense. Also, leveling gathering jobs without leves is really slow. (And the locator abilities could use a revision, just highest and near isn't useful if you want midrange spots. And user map markers would be nice, along with a fullscreen map instead of the one that goes transparent/unselected if you move by accident.) The higher level mechanics should be interesting, but of course they're high level, so nothing to say on that yet.

Since at the moment we only have miner and botanist, and they use the same gear, I figured I could save myself some armory space by keeping them the same level so I didn't need to hold or get sets again. When I started botanist, I was rather surprised upon checking the gathering list that there's no moko grass/weaver materials. Maybe it's on the secondary tool I haven't gotten to, but considering miner gets you all the base mats for the three metal crafts and alchemist at the start, botanist should give you base materials for both plant crafts at the start.

And on similar logic of one gear set, I've also started a crafting job cycle. (Also because after miner and botanist, I need to craft shit and sell it to get my inventory back. 90/100 atm.) Crafting is SO MUCH better than XI, what with the durability and progress/HQ dynamic. The only complaint I have so far is doing batches. If there's a way to not have to click through the recipe log again for making the exact same item a dozen times in a row, let me know. ("Damn it game, I want to make a bunch of ingots, just put me back at the crafting bars, I'LL tell you when I want to go to the recipe log.")
