The character creation chunk of the game should essentially be part of the new benchmark. I'm just wondering, since it obviously won't require an active account to run, how will it save the characters you create with it for importing to the retail version?
If you were to save presets in the creation during beta it would dump files in your Documents>My Games>XIV Beta folder like this: FFXIV_CHARA_BETA01.DAT.
I'm assuming the benchmark/creator will do the same and then the game will look for them and import those settings for you to use in the release build.
Ah, nevermind then. I had assumed the character presets were saved server-side, account-bound.
MAH BAHD
I found the character data saves a while ago and thinking people could actually share them, if you made a character someone really liked you could just give them that dat file for them to drop into their folder.
It is, the slot is determined by filename. The sliders just use byte values although they only span 1-100, plus there's a few other bytes which seem used for checksums. Non-scalar values are stored as indexes, which are also bytes. What this means is that if you set the height to 50, you can open up FFXIV_CHARA_BETA##.dat and it'll show up somewhere in there as 32. You can't artificially change this to FF and make your character super-tall due to the checksums.
I have a few pics actually
Spoilered for largeness

Roegs actually look 100% viable when sitting in chairs. Mancats look so stiff...

Burn your self out on beta? naaahhh
bravo~ pretty nice ^.~
Was leveling a craft more time consuming than leveling a normal class?
If you exclude the time taken acquiring materials and/or shards, then leveling a DoH class is way way way way way way faster.
Oh, was there a free 1-15, like there was with the other classes? If so then 8 35s and 3 32 shouldn't be too hard to get with just one person doing 18/6s or something like that, considering how long that shit lasted.
Also, I'm sure staying awake for 48 hours every weekend was normal to him. :3
Was only for DoW, not for crafting/gathering, and yeah doesn't take too long, but it still takes awhile to do! I'm thinking he was using the trick to spam HQ, to level at an obscene pace (you get a ton of bonus exp), and all the crystals would come from gathering.
You can get a level per 4-5 leve's, so same could be done with HQ turn ins probably.
