I'm guessing the island 'trick' works because it's such a condensed area, vs. the normal town where the bugs/fish/etc are spread out among a larger area, making them harder to force-spawn in a short timeframe....

On that note, any trick to getting sharks to spawn, or am I just stuck running back/forth along the ocean?

Pretty much. Condensed area, small batch of potential spawns, etc, etc.

The only trick there is to sharks is in the actual town, if you hit start and Save+Continue on the beach it'll reload everything in the ocean. You can keep doing that until a shark pops, rinse, wash, and repeat, but it's pretty tedious sometimes.

I went retard and cut the palm trees

Anyway to make them grow again or they will with time

If you see a fish you don't like, you can just sprint right next to them when they're close to the shore, and they will swim off in fright. I'm not sure if they reappear elsewhere or it causes a different fish to appear, but doing that on the island I didn't have issues making big fish and shark shadows appear.

Yeah, scaring fish makes them de-spawn so something potentially better can spawn in its place. When I'm trying to make money, I'll just scare away anything smaller than a Sea Bass-sized shadow.

Once you have a completed house and a satisfaction rating of 100 (acquired from doing a variety of Isabelle-suggested activities around town), you will get your development permit. This can only happen on the 2nd day, at the soonest, just because of the wait on the house construction.

The day after receiving your permit, Tortimer will show up when you log in and inform you of the island.

The day after that, Kappn' will be at the dock to give you a ride for 1,000 bells from then on. So, he will be there on the 4th day of playing, at the soonest.

Yup but you don't get the permit 100% the next day after 100% rating, took me 3 days after i get the 100% to get my permit

Then it must just be a # of days requirement. Either way, it's the day after Tortimer tells you about the island (which was on the 3rd day for me both times I started a new town).

Pretty sure it's just x number of days after paying off the first house loan. Wife got it before she finished getting 100% for the permit.

There a way to force catalog delivery? If I remember in previous games you could save/quit, visit another town, amd you'd get mail.
