Pidgin to Skype Problems

Fuck, it's a bitch to write w/ a phone. Ok, I have been using Pidgin for quite a while, small problems here and there. About two weeks ago shit hit the fan with friends who use Skype. Well, now we can't see each other, the programs show us 'off line.' They don't get my messages and vice versa. It only happens w/ Skype, yahoo and google work a ok. Anybody else w/ similar issues and a fix?

From what I can see, the plugins that let you use skype inside pidgin still require you to have skype actually running.
