Carnage has a solo book going right now that is very much a horror vibe. No Spidey at all. Brock as Toxin shows up in the story, but that's the only Spiderman tie-in. I could see the initial arc where the police track Carnage down to an abandoned mine and have to go in to get him making a really good horror flick.

Carnage isn't bad at all right now, basically Cletus as the main villain of a Lovecraftian horror story.

You're talking about a movie with a very different source material and a different target audience.

Deadpool also made far more money then anyone had any right to expect, and shouldn't (even though it will be) used as an excuse to make other movies R Rated when their really isn't any reason for it.

And it has nothing to do with being soft. R Rated movies make less money, period. This is an absolute proven fact and has been for years. Adjusted for inflation Deadpool sits in the 150 all time domestic gross range, and is tops all time for R rated movies.

There's 1 key word imo that contributed a lot to the success of Deadpool (moreso then Ryan Reynolds tight ass in red spandex).

Marketing.

I've loved Deadpool since day 1, and had been waiting forever for this movie, but the genius marketing I believe got those who probly didn't know much about the movie interested.
