The Secret World had this issue with a lot of their story missions that were instanced. The problem was that people that played around a single class (healer or tank mainly) did such little damage that they had to stop doing missions just to level other weapon classes to beat them. It was one of our biggest issues. Stop forcing us to solo.
Their reasoning is probably that GC leves can give extra seals based on performance. If they allowed you to do them in groups, you could easily game the system to get a bunch of bonus seals.
Does anyone not just set all leves to +4 and complete them in minutes anyway? All the ones in beta were stupidly easy, DoH leves were the only annoying ones at +4 and I'd get the max bonus for those too.
Considering I had 99 of them to spam through, I did not, Kiarax. At this fresh point, however, where I only have a handful... I'm weighing my options.
I don't remember being able to set a difficulty on DoH, but I do remember being able to on DoL. All it did was increase the difficulty of the gathering. Not sure if it was higher leveled items (lower chance at success) or that you needed more points to hit bonus tiers.
Same as DoW/M, bonus exp/gil upon completion and makes things a bit harder to get
Sorry, I meant DoL not DoH. DoH bonuses was just from HQ as far as I'm aware.
As I recall the item and the gathering point lvl would increase; however with proper gear you'd be able to complete it w/o much issue. However if it was a gather 40 item I'd get just over 40 items at +4 while if I kept it at my level I'd end up nearer to ~65. So you're then weighing the EXP bonus for difficulty vs the extra EXP for gathering additional items.
Same with evaluation based DoL leves; I'd get 400+ ez (which seemed to be a tier for bonus EXP) if I could hit the HQ item often, but if I put them +4 I often wouldn't be able to manage that.
As I recall, it was both. Not sure if it was higher leveled items (lower chance at success) or that you needed more points to hit bonus tiers.
Ah, gotcha. Yeah I knew about the DoL stuff; the DoH mistake confused me.
The ones I did didn't have any HQ items (unless you just mean the slightly lower success rate item rather than an actual "HQ") so that may be a factor worth considering. But I did notice items closer to your level gave less eval points. I'd get 10 per ore on +4 (no matter if I mined the easier ore or the harder one, both gave +10) whilst setting the difficulty to my level gave +7 per ore. I was hitting 300 eval every time at minimum even on +4. If 400 is a new reward tier it might be a case of going +3 and hitting that rather than +4, but I guess we'll just have to test it later on. The difficulty could well ramp up too making +4 harder.
Ah yeah, I did notice the change between 10/7 and shit like that*; don't know why I forgot. And yes by HQ item I meant the lower success rate item, I suppose a better phrase is "higher evaluation, lower success rate item" but HQ is so nice. The difference in success between the two items was as high as 35% at times iirc
*Though I never experienced the two items giving the same evaluation points
What's the point spending normal leves on DoW/M? I think leves are best spent on DoH/L and GC leves only, no?
Normal leves reward gear. Also, I think they're better exp than GC leves...?
I plan on jumping in fresh in Phase 4. I was messing around with Archer a lot during Phase 3 (got it to level 29 actually, surprisingly) and while I really enjoyed it and the versatility it had as a DD'er compared to Lancer (my other class of choice), I just didn't like how much damage I was outputting. It was neat being able to shadowbind adds and do some kiting and killing off little scrubs during bosses from a distance, but part of me just loves dishing out the pure damage and Lnc/Drg just suits me more (also considering I played Drg in XI, it's one of my more favourite jobs).
So yeah, I'm gonna go lancer and I'm gonna go hard to 30 via the story quests. And once I do that and unlock my boco and airship and GC and etc, etc, I'll go back to leveling other handy jobs to 15 and probably do Archer/Bard as a secondary class.
I am curious as to how leveling another job will go if I use up most of the quests/missions/bonus EXP from behest/etc, etc on a particular job. In beta, some guy in a random LS I joined said joining a random EXP party was still one of the best and fastest ways to level. So I'm wondering if anyone had any experience with that at all?
