It just occurred to me that my company's colors are black and red, and as a celebration of our oldest division's 100th anniversary, we all had to wear these red/black shirts today. On the same day as the Hawks parade.

The Oilers blogger guy on Hockey buzz is pretty bad, but his incredibly specific reporting on Horcoff is entirely plausible and really, really funny: that Horcoff is using is NMC to absolutely prevent a salary-retention trade (to force a buyout), and plans to when his NMC becomes a 10-team-list modified NTC next week name the 10 closest to the salary cap teams to again force a buy-out. Which dude says will result in the Oilers putting him in the minors for all of next season. Ha ha ha!

This seems like kind of a big deal for Euro hockey, it appears Jokerit is leaving SM-Liiga and joining the KHL. I wonder if they're actually good enough to really compete in the KHL, and also wondering how bad that's going to hurt Finnish hockey since they're hands-down the best franchise in the league...also wondering if this will have an impact on Finnish prospects going for the KHL instead of the NHL.

They're already gonna use their buyouts on 2 players that'll make no difference anyway, so if they shoot themselves in the foot any further, I wouldn't be surprised.

Apparently the biggest thing holding up Gagner's new deal is he wants a NMC, because he's sick of every 2 seconds hearing "Gagner to *pick a team out of a hat* for *close your eyes and point to that team's roster* that guy!" which I can't say as I blame him. Every year since his rookie season it's been constant rumors, and every deal he's signed since has been 1 or 2 year deals, which only fuel "He's not part of the future plans" rumors.
