They're definitely taking a chance on the guy. They want a long term goalie and he had a huge improvement last year, but so did the Chi defense overall. He's awesome though and I hope it works out.

I wouldn't be pissed but I wouldn't be happy with the deal as a Chicago fan. He's had one really good year where he started less than 2/3 of the games in a shortened season behind a great team. This deal feels like it will be a bit of a gaff in the next few years, though not as bad as Huet.

Eh they've been committed to him as the future of the team for 3+ years now, really it's the same as Price's deal except Crawford hasn't been shown to pull total choke jobs

Except Price's deal came after 2 full seasons (72 and 65 games) posting .923 and .916.

Crawford's 2 season were 57 and 30 games of .903 and .926.

And Crawford was behind better teams to boot.

Word going around the Vancouver service industry (restaurants and night clubs and etc) is that the big reason why Schneider was traded from Vancouver was because Kesler slept with his wife and Schneider demanded out.

Take it as you'd like, but it's pretty common knowledge around here that Kesler is a bit of a womanizer and constantly takes women to hotel rooms for a night of passion, despite having a wife and kid. Another industry rumour going around is that he got a girl pregnant and paid her a ton of money to hush it up. And that he's also a big coke head like MANY, MANY other hockey players are.

It reminds me of the Calgary rumours of when Phaneuf was traded, the rumours back then being that a)he was/is a giant coke head (like MANY hockey players out there) and b)he slept with Craig Conroy's wife and Phaneuf and Iggy ended up getting into a fist fight in the locker room (Iggy and Conroy being BFF's).

Did I mention that the NHL has a ton of coke heads?

Although if that were true, it sucks for Vancouver. The easy route would have been to trade Kesler and Luongo, and roll with Schneider, but neither of them had a lot of trade value.

Yeah, Kesler is a shell of his former self. He used to be really good, but after a buncha injuries during their run, he really hasn't been the same player. Definitely not a dominant player having only played 17 games last year with only 13 points, and then 77 games the year before that with only 49 points. Compared to the 2 years before that, both full 82 game seasons with 70+ points each (including 25 and 41 goal seasons each).
