Its only a problem if you don't mind having 40mil already committed for 2014-2015 to 8 forward, 4 defensemen, and 0 goalies and none of those 8 forwards are named Matt Read, Claude Giroux, or Sean Courtourier, who combined will run the Flyers another 20 mil probably. (plus signing 1-3 more forward, 3-4 more defensemen, and 2 goalies)
He has a fucking no movement clause - you said it yourself. THIS ISN'T AN OPTION unless Lecalvier lets you.Not to mention if they need to dump Lecavalier, I'm sure someone would easily take on the contract at 4.5m/y.
And no, I'm not counting Pronger towards that 40 mil.
PS Nik Grossman has a No Trade Clause too dipshit.
As does Coburn according to Capgeek.

welcome to your future. NTCs left and right on some pretty mediocre names.
Bam
Damn. With Steve Mason as your starting goalie....Philly is going to have to pull some serious salary dumps.
So Chiarelli has mentioned that with Horton gone, they have thought about circling back to Jagr, and that they "may" revisit.
You're right, I mean the future looks pretty grim...
Spoiler: show
You're nuts if you think Giroux and Schenn and Couterier will tie up 20m. Giroux 8. Schenn 3.5. Couturier 3.5. That puts the flyers at 15m and that's going high on couturier's contract. So we've got 45m + 15m puts us at 60m and after that point it's difficult to project who will be the Dmen/Goalie. So let's say the cap jumps back up to the 70.2 it was prior to the lockout and that gives the flyers another 10m to work with filling the remaining spots.
The difference is the Pens made the ECF this year.
The Flyers weren't in the playoffs with a goalie who has performed better than Mason pretty much his entire career.
The Lecavalier deal isn't bad in a vacuum. The problem is that it allocated money that should have been spent on defense and a backup towards a forward who isn't known for his defensive play. It also blocks Couturier's development and chance at a top 6 role in the next several years.
Next year Giroux gets 8m+, Read will be looking at 4m+, possibly up to 5-6m depending on this season, Couturier should be on at 2-4m because of his RFA status, Schenn will probably get 4ish, Meszaros will get a small raise, and you need to either re-sign Timmonen or find a replacement. It's going to be cap hell in all likelihood.
e: oh right you also have 0 goalies signed for 14-15
Speaking of cap issues:
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 53s
Hearing that Rask extension -- although not done yet -- will be in the 8 year/$56M range.
Defending your teams stupid decisions by pointing out another teams, doesnt make your teams any less stupid.
Um....
No, you havent really.
The Flyers are always in a state of flux. They don't rebuild, they try to do it on the fly, and it kinda works, but then instead of keep going with it, they can't help themselves and throw money at whatever big name free agent that is out there. Vinny is a great signing if your team is in contention and is a piece or two away from a cup, but now he is there for 5 years blocking Schenn and Coots to move up into that 2nd C spot.
You need to build from the goal out and for whatever reason the Flyers don't think they have to. They never draft a goalie and let him develop. Hell one that they actually did they dumped him off to the Jackets and look how that turned out? They have nothing in the system on defense or goaltending.
This isn't all their GM though. Their owner steps in too often to try and "win it now" and they always fall short.
