The lecavalier buy out interests me because I could see a team paying him almost the same amount of money but for shorter term. Also bryz buyout record didn't last long lol

I'm just angry at our shitty under performance. So many people predicted Buffalo would either win the division, or finish 2nd. Instead, our defense was like swiss cheese and Miller didn't steal 20 games for us like he normally does.

The more I think about it, the less sense it makes to me. All their other important guys are locked up for a few years, yes they would have only had $3m to fill out 4 spots on the bottom of their roster, but they're now paying a nearly point-a-game center who will be pretty much impossible to replace in this UFA market $2m+ a year to play for someone else. Hope the Hawks at least throw some feelers out towards him to see how low he'll go, especially if Handzus isn't going to come back.

I'd guess they are looking to try and shed space to rebuild through FA since they have been very inconsistent and shown they aren't good enough with their current aging pieces. They will have tons of space to sign guys the next two years now, especially in 2 when St.Louis and Malone are gone, though I would bet they trade St.Louis at some point this season.

You try and get a 2nd line center even if Handzus does come back. You really can't rely on him to be your 2nd line center for a full season.

Talk is that they were planning on using the 2nd buyout on Malone. Wouldn't mind seeing him back in Pittsburgh playing for a reduced salary if that were the case. Dude always clicked with Malkin.

I don't think it applies with the buyouts. There is no way the league/owners would have approved buyouts if players could cockblock it with some NMC loop hole.

Yea, these are special buyouts to "help the teams shed salary due to the reduced cap", players can't do shit about them.

Its funny because the Kings were talking about that. The lock out rewarded teams that had bad contracts by giving them 2 buy outs but since they don't have any bad contracts they get no benefit from it.

its to bad you can't trade them. Philly would make deals left and right to get them.

Also,Wild would love to buy out Heatley but since hes hurt, they can't.
