Its kinda weird to me that Alfredson went to the Wings to win a cup when honestly, I think Ottawa and Detroit have the same change to win a cup. If he really wanted a chance to win a cup, id think Boston would have been the best bet.

Holy fucking shit at today. Had a bunch of friends over for a rooftop party since you can see the National Mall fireworks show from my place; proceeded to drink myself into oblivion. Woke up at noon, started drinking again with friends at a beer hall and just got home. "Well let's see if anything happened in the hackey wor...HOLY SHIT ALFIE TO DET? WE ACTUALLY SIGNED PEOPLES?"

Stalberg was a great pickup for the Preds. I think Nashville Stalberg will be very different than Chicago Stalberg; he will definitely get top 6 time and I think he will expand his game offensively. Worst case scenario is he remains streaky and scores 40 pts, in which case I'm fine leaving him on the third line. He brings speed though which is one thing we desperately need. Cullen is okay but jesus we have too many 3rd / 4th line quality players as-is. Nystrom may be good and he may blow; like the toughness but way overpaid. Hendricks is funny; we were 2-6 in the shootout last year and I swear his shootout skills are like 80% of the reason we signed him.

We went into the draft looking to actually build a real offense and in the end we have built an even greater turtle team than before; I didn't think that was possible. I think we're a playoff team as-is, but I don't see a cup coming any time soon.

This has been one of the crazier free agencies in recent memory though. Alfie to the Red Wings, Schneider to NJD, Luuu potentially refusing to play for VAN, Ryan to OTT, etc etc. Love that we actually did something; last year at this time I was still throwing shit around my apartment after Suter walked FUCKER.
