Madden used to (maybe still does) historic teams, I don't understand why they wouldn't do that for this promo. Play NHL'94 exactly as-is with '94 rosters, '14 rosters, or past great teams.

Inflation is a factor. Also Chara's making just a hair under $7M/yr, and Rask's contribution is way higher than Chara's here, captain or not. So, if they're overpaying Chara, then they're basically forced to pay that much for Rask.

Also Luongo and Bryz got their contracts when they were over 30. Rask is only 25, so at least he's got more in the tank.

I have nothing against Rask, but remember it was his first year as #1, the question is if he can do it for more then 1 year straight

How does the recapture work?

If Ilya Kovalchuk retires or defects in the 2013 off-season (age 30 as of July 1 that year) and is not traded before doing so, following is an estimated breakdown of the recapture penalties for the involved teams.
