The way it works out though, its less than 1m to only 1m difference for like the first 4 years. He would still be leaving 30m on the table, but that's not until the 5th year. So he wouldn't really notice it until then.

plus California has a 10.3% state income tax where Texas has 0% = the dude is eating 12 million in taxes off the Lakers 118 million so if he gets extended from the 4 year Texas contract he'd wind up with a little more money

88 million over 4 versus 106 million (after taxes) over 5. if he thinks he could get an extension on a Texas team for year 5 it'd wind up something like 110 million vs 106 million in favor of Texas and he actually makes a little more money in the first four years per year regardless of year 5

given those numbers + that he hates Bryant + that he wants his own team i think it's pretty clear dude is bailing, prolly to the Mavs. he'd be second fiddle to Harden in Houston and they play a style that is not at all conducive to the man

It seems the league has learned that the Knicks don't understand the value of first round draft picks after that Carmelo fiasco. The fact there's a first round + another pick involved in this trade is beyond dumb.

Bargnani has skills but to throw in two picks is absurd. the Knicks are not a Bargnani away from contending. They need to figure out some way to get rid of Amare's contract and put a compatible star with Melo and Chandler while their window is still open

The Toronto Raptors are finalizing an agreement on a trade to send former No. 1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani to the New York Knicks, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Knicks will send their 2016 first-round pick to the Raptors, and a package that includes Marcus Camby and Steve Novak, league sources said.

The Knicks will also send two future second-round picks to Toronto, sources said.
