I really liked IM3 but I'm also not a comic reader so I didn't care a lick about the Mandarin "twist." I thought it was only slightly worse than IM1, but IM1 is a hard standard to live up to.

The twist was an absolute waste of a magnificent performance of Kingsley, but I didn't dislike the idea of what they were trying to do. The fact that Tony didn't deploy House Party while he's got a Black Hawk launching missiles into his goddamn house however is so unforgivably stupid that it pulled me out of suspension of disbelief.

IM2 had it's flaws, but the suitcase armor and getting to see Warmachine in action were nice consolation prizes.

House Party self-destruct was done because he was letting his obsession with having 300000000 armors to protect the world with cause dysfunction, and as a coping mechanism it was hurting his relationship with Pepper to the point where he was caring more about having a contingency for everything.

Then, he builds the iron legion so that they are fully automated and do his work for him, he never said anything about giving up being Iron Man. He gave up needing dozens of suits for everything. The fallout is then touched on Civil War, because his obsession came back after Wanda fucked with his head - he made Ultron, probably screwed things up with Pepper, then made up with her some time between Civil War and Homecoming.

It's not that hard.

Like people have said, wasted Kingsley potential. We ended up with Killian who was less interesting than fucking Obadiah. Extremis Pepper was the most eye roll inducing shit ever.

Like people have said, wasted Kingsley potential.

They should've worked Hail to the King into the actual movie. Now because they didn't, there's no way we'll ever get the real Mandarin referenced in it, because they won't make something that requires people to have watched a short.
