Yeah what you guys are saying makes sense.
Each time I had my pets evolve, it's always been right after a squirm-food trade, and never sometimes after.
Which makes the Red Pondweed evolution kinda... unconvenient.

At this point I'm leaning to think Red Pondweed is the first case of a pet (Adult Adamantoise) which has 2 squirm foods for two different paths (Blue for Greater, Red for White). Or maybe it's the first case of 4th evolution (Greater Adamantoise into White Adamantoise).
Whichever it is, it's gonna be a first case regardless, no?

It's not. Rank 1 monsters have two squirm foods, one for alternate evolutions, and one to speed up normal route. IE: potion for red treant/fiend blood for green treant, napa for karakul/boyada moss for sheep, etc.

Filled in some things on the wiki earlier, did someone say what abyssobugard's shop item is? Skimmed thru the pages and didn't see it. I don't know about adding food to the lists because of the layout.

That can't be true. It was probably an error because of "Beaming with Contentment".
Tried Yell and Poke, and both made the Ferromantoise visibly angry.
Tried Pet and got the "Stare into distance as if you're not even there".

Only tried those 3 options so far.

No Slap either (visibly angry)

I dunno whats wrong with my Ferro then because it is surprisingly not worthless in the eyes of my Ferro to yell at it on both my characters. It was also reported above somewhere to be a somewhat positive interaction cause thats why i started to yell at it. ( I just tested this again, even though I have been yelling for a week or two at it, and indeed it is not worthless)

Also yes the evolutions happen after JP Midnight but occasionally Ive had a monster evolve before JP midnight but at a later time in the day when i zoned into mog garden to make sure I did that days interactions. Usually I have done everything I could to them previously so it was basically just a graphic change since there is nothing functional you could do afterwards. For instance On both my characters I had pet, fed moko grass, and collected items from their baby admantoises. Later on that day but before JP midnight I zoned in and saw they both were finally adualt admantoise. But nothing to do but look at them since there was nothing left to do.

Also I really hate that "bad language" filter. I normally name my monster with what I shoudl feed them and interact with so I dont forget and have to look it up again. So It took me about 20 mins to figure out why I couldnt name my Ferro "RoyGrapeYell" I tried like a ton of combinations of Royal from just a R to Ry to Ryl ect... and capitalization, but I always had the Grape part in there. When suddenly RoyGraapeYell worked i was like ohhh yeah rape.. rape is bad.

Hmm on both my characters, at 2 stars My Ferro strongly resonated to royal grape but did not squirm. Do squirm messages sometimes not show til a certain star requirements (even if it varies per mob)?

first adamantoise had 1 1/2 stars for the second day, yesterday was first day at 1 1/2. i traded it a blue pond weed i had been holding and it squirmed, zoned out and back in and it was a greater adamantoise, so it seems SE has some control over the rate a squirm food makes a pet evolve. some pets only need 1 feeding 100% maybe , but we also have pets like Hecteye that take weeks low%

I have 1 more adamantoise and a baby just waiting for red pondweed, it could be like Ram and we need a 2 1/2 to 3 star Adamantoise or it could be some new thing and we have a 3 split from baby which i hope not. I want to be done with most of the turtle before update. so I can start on Wyrm and Behemoth or what ever they add.

So it's okay to collect items from monsters daily? The in-game text suggest that it's not a good idea.

It lowers it's mood, and I believe mobs grow slower when their mood is low, so it'll slow down any growing you want.

I've gotten about 70% of my mementos from collecting items, and that is the only time I collect, I wait for a monster to be happy in the first place. Once its happy I'll start collecting items but with feeding, petting, etc. It always stays happy, and once I get my memento I stop taking items. I've never seen it cause a monster to grow slower, but like I said I keep them happy.

So, like several of you working on the White Adamantoise, I've got a regular Adamantoise and not looking to needlessly waste red pondweeds through guesswork. Anyway, I'm speculating a few possibilities will get us where we want to go. Consider one of the following for White Adamantoise:

1) Might require 2.5 stars before squirming.
2) The squirm item is something we are overlooking. At 1.5 and 2 stars, so far I've tried Elixir and Holy Water with no squirm.
3) Grows regularly without a squirm (seems incredibly unlikely though).
4) Grows as a 4th stage, after Great Adamantoise. The gifts seem to suggest this isn't the case, however.

So in the meantime, I'll be looking at more exotic foods (particularly those that don't yet squirm other monsters) while it works it's way to 2.5 stars. It seems to be growing at a rate of 1/2 a star every 2 days.

i'm cheap so i use Distilled water for food for my adamantoise, works great on baby and reg, but Great Adamantoise seems to not like any liquids at all "stares off into the distance". but still likes to be petted. so confirming what Ligray said don't water your turtles.

Adult Adamantoise, evolved this morning into the Great Adamantoise on 1 1/2 stars, still seems to love Moko Grass and Likes being petted.

Look at it this way: At least now people who don't have D.ring don't have to worry about Savories not being in the login campaign........

Though that also comes at the price of them obvs using shanks for a behemoth line.

I'm fine with them using the NQ and HQ pops as mog garden items, as long as they keep them in login campaign, Just think how it would be if we couldn't get them from login in and had to spam the hills are alive and then hope we get HQ pop from the NM in valley of sorrows.
