I'm wondering if the points not only have a set selection of potential drops (which is obvious) but if the yield table also varies along the time-related routes.
I've had similar discrepancies with gardening furrows- I keep a constant dark crystal + cactus stem crop going, and I get a much more darksteel heavy yield with those late-night harvests vs. afternoon ones. The only cycle I can think of that might match it is the RoE timer.
