In your case, it could be from the rabbit or giant sheep meat, I'll test it again. Also, mine COULD HAVE evolved due to having it set on Personal Growth parenting style because it took a while (over a week of getting squirm messages until it finally evolved). Maybe if you set your pet to Living in the Moment or whatever, it wont mature over time? I'll try another mule with only lesser chigoes exclusively with this scenario. I haven't found any other food that gives the squirmishing message yet, I've tried every fish, meat and insect. Trying liquids now, efts don't like fiend blood beastmen blood. I noticed that feeding the pet more than one type of food made my pets evolve way faster than feeding it simply the one that evolves it, even though you get the squirmish message every time. It was that way with my treant and sheep. Could just be a coincidence, but it's worth exploring heh. Here's a SS:

On a related note, my first cockatice finally evolved today.... fed it stricly Quus and got the squirmish message every time trying to get the Blacksmith memento only to get this:

Since we both had this experience, is it safe to assume that you need to feed at least one other different food to get the evolution you want? It makes a lot of sense, unless Quus isn't the food to evolve Cockatice > Ziz, or lesser chigoes Eft > Taruchuk.

Well I've evolved 2 monsters to the subspecies instead of just the adult form feeding only the squirming food. Iirc way back when they released this before there was a squirming message it was either said or found out that there was 2 "good" foods per monster so could just be 1 is for subspecies and one is to force adult form even when you aren't on personal improvement?

Yeah, I mean even in the notes after monster rearing was introduced, SE hinted that there were certain foods that triggered evolution. They even gave us the foods for Sheep/Karakul and told us to figure out the rest heh. Most of the foods are found already, except for Taruchuk / Adult Eft (we need to confirm what lesser chigoes evolve efts to, but it's looking more like Taruchuks instead of Adult efts) and Adult Raptor maybe? I'm not gonna deny that Quus is the evolution food for Ziz, although there has been at least 2 accounts that feeding only Quus to baby cockatrice ended up with an adult cockatrice in this thread. If my memory serves me right, I was able to evolve adult lizards from only feeding the infant form lesser chigoes, and the Grey lizard from only feeding it Rotten meat (getting squirm message every time too?).

I'll list what I've fed monsters and what they evolved into and maybe if others do the same we can narrow down what does what.

    Spoiler: show

    Monster----------------------Food-----------------Result

    Sheep (baby) --------------Napa, millioncorn----------Karakul

Rabbit---------------Distilled water, Red Moko Gass--- White Rabbit

Lizard --------------Lesser Chigoe, Rotten meat-------Grey Lizard

    Cockatrice-----------Quus, Hare meat? (I forget)-----Ziz

Raptor-------------Hare meat, Pine nuts? Acorn?(some crap it didn't like)--Adult Raptor

    Eft------------------Hare meat, Lesser Chigoe--------Tarichuk

    Sapling-------------Distilled water, Potion------------Green Foliage Treant

That's all I've done so far. The sapling squirmed at the potion but I only gave it one and it didn't evolve for like 5-7 days after it. Gave it water otherwise.

Just got the Ram today, and it's not giving me ram skins, but imperial tea leaves from the Moogle NPC.

Did you mean the Ram memento, or did your sheep just evolve into a ram?... Your wording is kinda off there.

I'm convinced that Lesser chigoe is the evolution item for Taruchuks now, I followed Hitou's feeding pattern and was able to get my eft to evolve in a few days after one feeding of lesser chigoe. I think I did G. sheep meat x2 > Lesser chigoe or something like that and got the squirm message last night after the chigoe feeding of course.

Anyone know what is the requirements to unlock Chacharoon's Cheer? I cannot get the quest to unlock. Zenicca does not have the KI for sale. Do I just keep interacting with my monster until moogle decides to talk to me?

    From the notes:
Players must have completed the quest “Chacharoon’s Cheer” to receive these effects. This quest will activate once players have reached a Monster Rearing rank of two.

So yes, keep interacting with the monster till it unlocks.

does "collecting" your pet's items unlock higher rank faster?
i just got rank 2 on one of my mules, and i tried the basic rabbit cheer, evasion and parry skill +1% but numbers themselves did not increase when i checked status... anyone know what i did wrong? or do they still work even if not displayed?

In my experience yes collecting items helps get to rank 2. I don't think it's required, it's just another interaction you can do each day. As for the skill/crafts on cheers. It's skill up rate. Nothing else. SE, as usual, is super awesome at being vague when they add descriptions to things.

So looks like only Ram item hasn't been found... because it requires great boyada moss lol. Does that nm still have a 24 hour respawn?

:3 I got one randomly the other day when roaming around Boyahda for Unity purposes. Too bad I also give zero shits about Monster Rearing and don't even have the Chacharoon's Cheer unlocked.

Ram KI lets you buy Ram skin my sis has had it for weeks now. You could get the moss from the dumb mandy event a little while ago so there may be some floating on the AH depending on your server.

So the KIs that say Great Katana +1%, Blue Magic +1%, Polearm +1%, etc... Are those +1% to skillup rate, or is it gonna actually give a 420 GK skill an extra +4 skill?

-Edit nvm...just saw the wiki. Disappoint.
