It's more of something to do while you are otherwise occupied. If you actually actively playing obviously fight with a group. Plus I tribox so it helps

i did yorcia reives afk too. its not hard when you've got other pet jobs doing the same thing as you.

on pup or bst, same standard rules, sneak/vis and sic and you can stand in a far corner and issue commands or afk.
on smn, i find it easier to use elemental spirits cos you don't have to do anything. issuing targeted BPs can be dangerous cos you need to be in range. for SMN, if you can't get close enough to the roots, you can always keep a pet out and cast like dia on it and they'll auto-attack (if not claimed).

avatars generally hit much weaker than automaton and beastpets

Avatars seem to be hitting decently compared to old jugs now with delve ammo

Decent, but still far behind BST and PUP.

That and we have to drop invisible to do anything.

Yeah, uh. 20-40 damage against Lair Reives? lolAvatars.

Avatars get approximately a 30% DPS boost from STR+70. It gives Celestial Avatars a base damage of about 63 and a delay of ~320, making them approximately the same DPS as Molva Maul (Level 85 club, D65/308 delay).

tried PUP out today in reives, definitly the best job to get insane amounts of bayld and exp solo or when other peoples are there. Especially with a mule that can heal you, you can leave your maton on the root while waling on 1 mob at the distance.

With the delve ammo? Cause that's about what non ilvld falcor is doing right now against colo (all the ravine lairs are super camped and non of the weald ones are afk viable)

You're better off punching rocks and putting your pet on birds, in marjami anyway.

How are you getting bayld as smn? I get a ton spamming Healing Ruby II with other people but alone, the bayld has been pathetic. Even sic'ing an avatar on the roots or lair has gotten essentially nothing. Do you spam buffs or something?

Before the update, I was able to get a decent amount of bayld as SMN doing Whispering Wind. After the update, however, I've done 2 Wildskeeper Reives and a reive in Marjami and have gotten no evaluations at all except for the end-of-reive reward while on SMN. This was with spamming Blood Pact: Rages on Achuka/Tchakka/rock, making sure to be on the hate list with Dia, Curing myself and others, basic enfeebles, etc.

Meanwhile, my SCH alternate is having no problem getting evaluations every time just by me making Immanence skillchains with series II spells for practically no damage.

Yeah they really doing weird stuff with evaluations. Pet's get hardly anything in general. Buffs give like nothing. Taking dmg doesn't give that much unless you bleeding it out hard. Debuffs don't seem to do much

In my admittedly limited post-update experience so far, the problem seems to be isolated to SMN. Following Achuka, I changed to PUP and was helping someone get past a regular Reive to get access to Morimar Bivouac #5. With the automaton on the rocks and me issuing only manuevers (and doing no meleeing whatsoever), I was having no problems getting the recurring evaulations that I expected.

I haven't seen if BST is any different, and unfortunately haven't regained enough bayld yet to bring PUP to another Wildskeeper reive to see if it's any different in there versus normal reives. SMN is just terrible in Reives right now rewards-wise, at least for me.

Well part of that is just how boss alternator is. So pup still does decent dmg compared to player dmg. Bst jugs are pretty terrible right now for evals but part of that is a single afk pup will has better dps then me and my 2 mules on bst actually using ready and 1hr though only main has pants for haste. I mean I watch it completely afk do 1.4k ws on boulder while I do 150-200 dmg ready moves <.<

So playing around more with the semi afk farming capes and there are 2 fairly out of the way ones in ravine. Gotta go thru tunnels to get to them. Not usually many people there so can afk. All the lair reives seem to be camped pretty hard though. Either by parties or pups that tear them up too fast to get enough evals. None of the lairs in weald were viable. Even hiding behind roots stuff would still aggro me.

for smn doing reives if you're just auto-attacking with your pet you're likely gonna need enough time to deal enough damage for an evaluation to occur. the first one is always the longest and hardest to get. it seems as though theres a threshold to meet before you get your first eval. the subsequent ones aren't nearly that difficult.

what you can do to speed up the process is probably to spam buffs. arguably if you're in a lair/colo reive and you want to afk at a safe distance, you don't really have any options as far as BPing go (and they don't really help you get evaluations anyway), so you're better off spamming buffs. Maybe do a barelement rotation, or curebomb yourself (/RDM and convert or full-time your sacrifice torque before you join the reive)

The problem i see with weald lairs is that they're all found in corners, so the mobs tend to space out on the open end, which is why even at max distance (usually ~20') you can still get aggro.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of straight damage ready moves are a dps loss lol, even with just pet meleeing...

Auto generates decent bayld from dealing/taking/healing damage, but it seems to be at a reduced % of what a player would. ADD nuking with blm auto seems to generate exactly 0 bayld/exp, that might be a problem with elemental magic in reives in general thou...

Yeah it certainly does. Hell depending on the pet some of the single target moves actually deal less dmg then there normal melee...if I ever find out how to get the ingredients for the grasshopper though it's on. Anyone know what mob type each target is for reives? I know roots are plants but not sure on the others

Yeah that's kinda what i mean pets seem to get less than a player would which combine with the generally poorer dmg/healing leads to meh evals. Pup can push more dmg so can do okish.

Speaking of that somewhat off topic but I've had some people say they basically got no evals for nuking bunchs on mage jobs... so maybe that's why? However evals are factored now are highly skewed to pcs dealing raw dps and/or curing buttons. They seem to basically be trying to nerf any inherently "safe" contributions it seems.

Yeah I was getting no evals at all nuking walls/mobs on sch, with decent gear/storm spell/2hr + stratagem spam mind you.

Has anyone tried just shooting walls/lairs to death solo on rng/cor/sam?

It was actually this way before the update. I once tried to catch up with a group in Morimar a couple months ago and was soloing a rock by nuking with WHM/SCH; I managed to get half of the rock's HP down by myself before giving up and leaving and didn't get a single evaluation in the process, and ultimately 0 exp/bayld total.

I know buffs used to be good. Like awhile back I used to sic my pet on something and have my whm mule spam barspells and it would get better evals then my bst. But now I loop barspells or songs and litterally get nothing. I've actually looped brd songs onto so much onto my whm to keep its mp up that my brd not my whm pulled hate off my pld. But didn't get a single eval until I took dmg. Then again it might be a bug since they finally accepted my report on it in the OF lol
