    dat otterbox

    you know, I don't normally big up any companies or products, in fact I frequently complain about service and spout "never again!" but not now

    I just got off the phone with Otterbox, and this is only the third company that I've ever dealt with after Tilley (they make hats etc) and Mountain Equipment Coop that are so damn easy to deal with in replacing a product

    you bring a Tilley hat (mind you they cost $100 for a fishing hat) into one of their stores or dealers, and that thing could be ripped, cut, covered in grass stains and permanent sweat stains.. anyway you hand that in and they'll give you a new one on the spot, no questions asked

    MEC is the same, and now Otter has joined the ranks of my favorite companies in the world. My defender case gets a lot of wear and the corners have come loose a couple times, and I'll be getting my 2nd free replacement at store level, but anyway, Otter will start my 1 year warranty from the date of replacement, not purchase, which I think is fantastic

    true story, when I was little I thought that song was about the KKK.

    REI has always been good to me with returns, might be store dependent, dunno. All the ones I've ever gone to have been good though.

    actually, MEC that I mentioned: I returned a 2 year old backpack just yesterday, said it wasn't waterproof enough and got one big enough for my new beast of a laptop

    just like that, been a good week as a consumer

    I think MEC is modeled after REI, assuming it was the one that was around at least 20-30 years ago
