599, solid laptop, Im not going to lie, I dont like AMD or their video cards and I think their CPUs are a detriment to laptops because of their performance vs speed vs thermal output. So I always pick intel if I absolutely can. The video card on this isnt a beast mode but it will accomplish what you want it to do, maybe even a little 14 turned down a bit. i5 CPU will handle the rest and I think it has optimus so itll turn off the main video card to save power. My brother has an asus and loves it
Posting this on that exact laptop. I paid a little less due to finding a solid deal on CL. But this laptop is worth it, I can't recommend it highly enough if you are looking for a solid laptop on a tight budget.

I'd also like to spend my student loan money on a laptop good enough to play FF14. I don't want a desktop because I'd feel like I'd be getting it only for FF14 whereas a laptop i can bring to school and use for SPSS and my research etc. Are there any laptops under $1200 that can get a 6-8k on benchmark running FF14 on max/good settings? I'm also considering waiting for a PS4 because perhaps it will run FF14 better than the PS3 does(I heard PS3 runs FF14 well but it LOOKs awful:

    Look around on their site.

Also, lenovo y500 might be something to consider: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834312438

I don't know how well they do for ffxiv on all maxed settings, but it's a fucking laptop not a desktop. Do not expect miracles, but things are getting pretty strong lately.

The Y500 is a pretty good deal at this point. It's got SLI 650s, it will be on par or better than that Sager laptop that's $400 more expensive. Don't expect good battery life though.

The lenovo also does not include a dvd drive, but I rarely use one as is myself (though I have a usb one I got for a netbook a long time ago heh). Its spot is taken up by the extra vid hardware. Looks great on paper, but be prepared to deal with heat and short battery.

The sager, with its single card, has a dvd or bluray drive, and might get slightly better battery, though sagers are meant to be upgraded with more stuff (can raid two hdds and have an ssd, if you like killing your wallet). There's also a 13.3" one with the same specs if you wanted a smaller one: http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.p...el_name=NP7330

Also, look on http://www.xoticpc.com/ , they retail sagers and many other mid/high end laptops (very large variety). Might find something different.

add: apparently there was an updated version of that lenovo on xpc: y510p http://www.xoticpc.com/lenovo-ideapa...st-p-6166.html Looks quite nice honestly.
