You can't dismiss him as a nobody that got there by luck of the brackets if he put the champ into losers (with fucking balrog, not cammy...).

Both match ups included 1 brainded easy to play character and an advanced character, the comparisons are similar if you think about it. Just their tier placements are different Gen and Balrog top 10-15 characters, Akuma and Cammy top 1-5 characters.

Unless you somehow think this random has a better Balrog than PR Rog who actually lost to Xian using the same character.

Randomness can win, there are also huge luck factors.

Justin went from being on match point with only chip damage left on Sakura to getting beat 3 times to reset then beaten 3-0

His best bet is to meet her in the air or use jumpback normals, or more ideally just get in on her before she gets close with advantage. Really j.hp isn't the issue in that matchup, it's that he can't reversal at all if he gets knocked down.

That said, that part goes both ways, she can't reversal him either, she just does more damage and he stuns easier. The EX Messiah fix in Ultra will fix a lot of that matchup for him.

He can't dive kick pressure her the same as other characters, she has a 3f standing HP, godlike standing lp that frame traps. Her stun output is a little high and Rufus has below average stun. He's a worse position getting knocked down by her than she is getting knocked down by him.

Every other form of pressure is roughly the same. The stun and damage output favors Sakura

While you can say their airgame is the same, she can advance on Rufus easier than Rufus can advance on her, her walkspeed allows that. I will say both characters are pretty loaded with bullshit though

Tapatalk being shitty and eating my replies, tl;dr is that the stun is somewhat superfluous since he's so free on wakeup that doing another 50 after knocking him down is pretty easy. If they make it so she can't low-profile both of his reversal options with one button and tone her damage down just a tad it's 5/5, but I don't think it's currently beyond 5.5/4.5.

What I'm really curious about is if Justin gave any consideration to switching to Adon, that's a massively better matchup.

I don't think that balrog is a braindead character, there would be more than 1 that is currently capable of winning a major if that were the case. Balrog isn't going to scrub someone out like cammy -- not even close. I can't believe tournament wins are being discredited because of luck and randomness. Why do we even compete in these things then if everything can be discredited?

Catching up on TFC since I didn't watch yesterday because football, DoA finals was actually really fucking good. Didn't expect myself to be that entertained watching it.
