I think they really got it right this time. I don't even remember what the other anime was like but this time around they're sticking fairly close to the source and animating it pretty well.

Which involves a lot of really nicely done curb stomp battles involving lampposts and cars being used as melee weapons.

Asura*CG anime*(Watched it thanks to AWO Podcast)

Wow, this was a really impressive Movie on all counts. In fact one of the best I've seen in quite some time. AWO have already touched on a couple really great things about this Movie, the quality of direction, etc, but one thing I found really engrossing about it was the incredibly oppressive atmosphere present throughout. All parts of the production really tie into this feeling of unease and uncertainty with what is happening. The music, the direction, the art, all work together in cohesion. I was completely hooked into all the details as the movie progressed. It peels away some small layers of the story and characters, and all the while the audience is really left in this state of suspense.

PS if anyone doesn't mind gore, cannibalism and a sad ending, it's worth a watch.

The new series is basically what it should have been the first time around.

Yozakura is one of those series that assumes a menial understanding of Japanese myths, and kind of throws you into its world with no real explanation (kinda happens along the way) so you have to take that as it is, though.

I jumped the gun and caught up to the most recent episode. It was a little confusing at first, but as the stories progressed, they sort of reintroduced the characters as needed and it was pretty easily to follow along. The story is kinda simple, but I'm digging it so far. I feel like the 24min episodes just kind of blitz through and are over before I know it

I haven't watched this show since the second episode. When I see that animation style, I just want them to make more Hyouka

Yeah, one of the weird/cool/awkward things about Yozakura is how there is a huge cast you see quite often, but it doesn't tell you jack about them directly until a fair amount of interaction and "hint hint" has been done. It's fairly jarring if you don't like it but if you can get past it there are these fun "so that's what that scene was about" moments.

For instance, that police guy is literally the strongest character in the town (the gods don't count obviously lol) but there is pretty much no indication of that other than a few (for the viewer, at the time) strange moments.

I honestly have no idea what's happening anymore, lol. Animation and style are as beautiful as ever. And the story seemed to be fleshing out nicely, but this last episode, I just... I dunno lol. Series has been great so far though. I'm sure the last few episodes are gonna be fantastic
