im sorry but nothing is above armageddon
holy fuck. I've never been in a quiter theater than when I watched this. There wasn't a sound through out the whole thing, and thats with a packed show with a decent amount of families with kids. If you're going, try to make it IMAX.
I have to agree as well. Except for the fuck next to me munching on popcorn and scraping the god damn paper bucket it was in. He eventually figured it out about 20minutes in and I was able to enjoy the rest of the movie in absolute quiet. In fact, at the end of the movie there was no clapping, no murmuring - just silent shuffling out of their seats and into the aisles to get out of that theater.
Just got out of seeing this in IMAX 3D; I couldn't really think of seeing this movie any other way. I was pretty much blown away by the whole experience. I may go see it again before it leaves IMAX.
Yeah please go see this movie.
Wouldn't be surprised if this movie breaks some more October box office records. Our theater has had about 5x our normal projected attendance for the IMAX showings every day this week.
We're going to see it again this weekend. By far my favourite film of the year, Pacific Rim is second.
I saw this tonight, it was fantastic. I honestly didn't know what to expect, I didn't read any reviews or even look at this thread before I went, and even when my friends asked me to go I was kind of hesitant. But goddamn, I was blown away! Seriously good movie
Saw it a second time in IMAX 3D tonight. Theater was packed, and was still worth ticket price.
I know I'm late to the party but I just saw this and it was fantastic. The only part I didn't like was when they got to the space station because the physics there didn't make sense and the outcome was unnecessary. I know most of the astrophysics were inaccurate but that scene in particular felt like plotkai.
Other than that I never felt like the plot was dragging and the visuals were amazing.
Also, I believe Stone was a medical engineer, not a medical doctor. Her doctorate would then be in engineering of some kind.
I only saw it a couple days ago also.
It was good I guess.. idk I haven't made up my mind about it yet. I liked the beginning how they remind you how dangerous it is to be in space. I think this is the first movie I have ever seen were there isn't any space sound effects. I applaud them for that. What really bugged me was Clooney's character. The handsome guy act wears thin really quick. Saw it in normal movie fashion. I probably should have seen it in IMAX 3D but there is only one screen of that near me and they have really limited showings.
I honestly think no-sound space effects are far more tense than the stupid Michael Bay effects you expect. It's like "Holy shit look at that debris tear through all that stuff...and not a sound was given"
So I haven't seen this yet and Bill Maher spoiled the big thing about Clooney's character without warning on his show tonight.
Sure makes this movie sound incredibly cheesy and already done lol.
Yea it's a good thing you haven't watched the movie yet otherwise you might have formed your own opinion.
Well he was talking to NDT about it, and they were going over some of the flaws, and then Maher was like
Spoiler: show
Which isn't exactly an opinion thing, just what you take from it is.
What I take from it is that was a cool idea before it was done in 50 movies since that one big one did it, even though it had been done before that one too.
what in the fuck are you talking about
Spoiler: show
