Toshiba laptop driver troubles

So gfs computer was so bloated down with shit that it was un repairable so I just wiped it. After reinstalling windows I cant seem to get the graphics driver to install. I go to the Toshiba website download the driver and install it but at 100% the install page vanishes, check the device manager and it just reads "standard vga" restarted after wards and still nothing. Im trying to run the ff xiv bench mark and keep getting a "directx has encountered a fatal error: 10000000x" assuming the graphics driver is the problem. Any ideas?

Install page? You mean toshiba's installer program or some web page? "Standard VGA" is windows' default vid driver, works on everything to give basic desktop view but nothing else.

Do you know what the gfx device is to begin with? You could go download them straight from the manufacturer, like nvidia, amd, or intel.

Model of the toshiba would be helpful so we can find the drivers page. Perhaps it uses some large custom driver pack like my asus does; it needs this pack installed first as it contains drivers for a lot more of the hardware. You can then install updated vid drivers (run the installer to uninstall the vid drivers only before upgrading).

I've tryed looking for the graphic card that comes with them to download directly from the gpu company but all I can ever find is Intel HD graphics or some bull shit. What I mean by install page is the prompt that appears when running the installer for the drivers. It comes up a wizard type prompt, hit start and it shows a progress bar. When it hits 100% the wizard vanishes and nothing ever loads up or shows afterwards saying it finished or that anything was installed. Honestly though I'm not sure which drivers I need for the computer from the main page (other than the LAN driver of course, so that may be a lot of the problem)

Thanks a ton for all the help. I finally managed to get the right drivers installed. Im not sure what I was doing wrong but finally got one of the intel drivers to work and all Is good now. Thanks!

yw. i tried earlier this week on a laptop to use toshibas auto installer for drivers and it did exactly what you described in your first post, took me a while to find the drivers page initially.
