Do people never read the dev comments? Yorcia Skirmish was planned to be released this update but they couldn't finish it in time, so they added the items to access the area in the meantime to prep players for entry.
Oh, well, derp. Thank sucks, lol.
I've seen it done in a few battles with 8-10 people and tanking for the group. I was actually pretty impressed. Was holding decently but more importantly really wasn't soaking much damage. This RUN was actually /war rather than /nin. It might not be a pld, but it's still in a better spot than lolnin at the moment.
I picked up some Velkk paraphenalia in Marjami Ravine and tried to start It Never Goes Out of Style, but the NPC hasn't heard of me with Rank 4 fame. I think this quest requires Rank 5 or more.
Well, the problem is, it was tanking, or that's the impression I got from his post. Berserk, even with all the evasion and parry RUN can get, will make the hits that go through much more threatening. /SAM gives you a boost in the form of an easy 7-hit, haste, acc and STR from hasso, and seigan to avoid even more damage. Plus meditate and sekanoki that are always nice.
True but /war offers a bit more than what I said. You get a little bit more str so kinda evens out with seigan/hasso usage. Tactical parry with those kind of parry rates kinda does weird things to xhit builds anyways. Agressor. But mostly I don't like how it effects foil/flash recast which are awesome hate spells but also very awesome defensive spells which you can pratically spam now without something killing your timer. Similar thing with stoneskin I suppose. You'd be relying more on your meleeing and not sure how you'd fair against a drk who has all the same melee you got plus more haste/att.
By that same token kinda curious how /rdm would do. More fast cast and self barspelling for even less magic dmg taken?
You already have barspells as run, rdm is really only for solo...in group play I don't think anything is worth it other than sam and nin. I guess drk for old zerg content, but who cares.
Oh yeah doh forgot that. I'd still rather boost my casting speed other than kill it. Kinda defeats the purpose of inspiration
I'm an enormous fan of going /sch to most tanky things. Foil and Flash hold hate well and you've got cures, some -nas, and cost/cast reduction from light arts. Only real shame is no Regen duration bonus.
I don't even know what content you could be refering to, any melee job can 'tank' anything below delve level without taking much damage. Anything delve related your should be buffing melees with 2 songs and 2 rolls at a minimum, and they will be tanking. RUN is just a gimp melee job that takes less magic damage and can't supertank shit half as well as pld.
I'm all for finding a jobs niche, but 'tanking' doesn't really exist currently. And intentionally creating situations where you have a 'tank' rather than just taking several melee/brd/cor and killing it 10 times faster, is silly.
Also, no job should be attack deprived on anything shy of megabosses with the changes to Ilevel weapons.
Shouldn't really use run as tank, rather a dd with support. It's not as useless as some people make it out to be. This isn't nin.
Against what? If you're fighting Delve NMs with next to no buffs debuffs then sure, if you're using intelligent job setups (which is contradictory since we're talking about a useless job) then it won't be "attack deprived".
Just wanted to mention for people who are doing stuff like this with tier 1 nukes - dINT is hard capped even on most of the high level NMs if you have a good nuking setup. Try to get more MAB or "magic damage" in where you can. Swaps like Strendu Ring swapped for an INT+7 ring, Erlene's Notebook instead of Ombre Tathlum, etc., will get you more damage if you're capped out on dINT. If you want to test it out, just drop off an INT ring and see if your damage stays the same, you're capped if it does.
