Sucks WAR mobs don't get Retalation.
Sucks WAR mobs don't get Retalation.
So forgot to note it yesterday but one downside to Cimicine discharge is it's absurdly long charge time. ~10 full seconds from the time it starts till you can start doing anything again. Probably because it's doing a debuff and buff animation one after another but still
Looks like they fixed the sub job thing with this maintanence.
Shout on ffxiah for my server says monstrosity is broken. Any clues as to what got broken enough for a person to say not to enter?
Seems fine to me too, unless he's talking about the UI dat swap in which you can't cancel gestation because the icon is "Debug" in which case yeah don't do monstrosity.
Cancel 575 fixes that
Speaking of the subjob thing we got the subjob traits back however still no subjob job abilities. Wonder if that is intended...
On that note gnat is war/thf
The post about adding job abilities to monstrosity specified that it's only the "main" job that get the job abilities. So yeah, that's working as intended.
Anybody know a good 50-99 path for large mobs ?(that doesn't include 50-60 xarcabard)
Which post is that? The update note and todays maintenance notes didn't specify and well the dev posts say job abilities missing was a bug

Took me a long time to find it but it was mentioned here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...l=1#post465378
I noticed there was no mention of it being main job only after that announcement.
ah their initial plans. Well they mention provoke in that too and we don't get that either lol. Well I still asked for clarification
I've noticed while playing lynx (WAR/BLM) that some of the usable job abilities share recast timers with a corresponding BLM ability. I run the windower timers plugin and when I use Aggressor and Restraint, those show up in addition to Elemental Seal and Mana Wall. Could just be a glitch or has the spaghetti code revealed that SE may someday let us switch between abilities of the two jobs?
Oh, also, has anyone come across the "new instincts" that were supposedly added in the update? Or are we to assume they mean the instincts for Gnat which were technically already in the game.
So been playing with gnat more and some interesting things about insipid nip.
It doesn't seem to really get any stronger in terms of absorb and even dmg really but it seems to have 100% acc or something. I've litterally yet to have it miss leveling all the way to 51 fighting T-ITs the whole time. But that said it definitely doesn't appear to be a typo about it being physical since mighty strikes raises it's dmg decently. So don't really know why it's so accurate.
Also it turns out there is a chance to absorb the same stat that you already have the buff up for. Sadly this does not reset duration.
And lastly Gnat is very odd. You can basically have near full time HF with lots of haste instincts and cicimine so it mows thru mobs really fast but as a war/thf has no really self sufficiency so I often have to rest between chains... despite that it's still leveling really fast. Can't wait to get it into a pt with a healing job
I have missed Insipid Nip a few times.
Mid-to-low 50s have always been really fast for me on all jobs, but Gnat is really just something else. Cimicine Discharge is almost awesome enough to make me forget my dedication to wabbit!
Right now I'm using:

I'm 55 and haven't been back to town in a while (57/65 points spent), but wow. The delay between my attack rounds is about 1.5 seconds and I have something like a 15% TA rate and 10% DA rate with Fencer and Berserk. I spend more time walking between monsters than killing them.
Probably not as awesome as Gnat, but I've heard ppl say Gnole sucks to lvl up, and I can see why, as most people leveled it pre-Alpha fighting stance update. But after lvl 45 with counterstance + Cacophony (as Mentioned by Damane) you hardly get hit by VT-IT mobs. I noticed that Cacophony's counter buff makes all counters crit or do double damage and also that if you go back to 4 legs Cacophony's buffs stay and with the haste buff + haste instincts (I only have 14% on instincts atm) the delay is super fast, on 2 legs you attack non-stop and counter but regular hits are like 40-50 per punch and 80-90 dmg counters, if you go back to 4 legs after putting cacophony's buff on, regular hits go for like 100 dmg on VT-IT and counters for 180-200 which just mows through 3-4 mobs at once. So far I've done 45-55 in a bit over 2:30hrs which is my fastest lvling in that range so far.
Spoiler: show
Yea gnole ain't bad now, but if you're looking for mobs that do suck try Wamouracampa / Marid / Ram / flytrap / antlion those i would say are top 5 worse mobs to level currently.
The next set of monsters are in the .dats:
Spoiler: show
Birds, Amorphs, and Aquans! There are no new instincts listed.
Limascabra Gagana are the only 2 i dont know.
Gagana is either gonna be Soa birds or suzaku
Limascabra is probably the abyssea NM Uragnite ?
Other then playing around with sandworm nothing really jumping out at me as fantastic.
