I would say games like Madden or The Show. But those games are probably best as 1 on 1. But fuck, NHL games where you play a buncha people vs a buncha people, incredibly fun and no FPS splitscreen bologna

It works for some styles of game. Bomberman is not split screen.

I guess in my mind, it's a matter of why not? The vast majority of games may not need that support, but having it there for the handful of titles that could make good use of it certainly doesn't hurt.

Cell architecture and x86 architecture are nothing alike, and they made it clear when they got rid of the Emotion Engine chip on PS3s that spending money on ridiculously specialized SOCs isn't something they enjoy doing.

Because it would require including the entire console's hardware. The previous gen's hardware was completely different, and emulation is not even remotely feasible. The only possible way to do it would only cost slightly less than just buying a ps3.

If they sold a backwards compatible model for $600, would you buy it? No? Didn't think so.
