I spent a lot of back and forth yesterday debating on what to get. It was either this or Tower of Orthanc and a $200 SW set. The only 200 set i wanted though was the B-wing and it was retired. Orthanc isn't going to retire any time soon.

Plus I want to do some Eve related Lego work, and well, 3000+ grey bricks is a nice step in that direction.

you have the UCS MF or the newer set? Either one is cool, but I've wanted to see a pic of the top open

I have the newer version of the millennium falcon set. Clone wars box. I'll post some pics when I'm home. Also real sad they discontinued the mini planet sets at series 3. I know series 4 is out and you can get them online but they are expensive like $30 a pop. Can't bring myself to do it yet even though series 4 has the best ships

nice. damn i love legos. took me a week to build that monster, and i couldn't really do anything else while i worked on it except read because it ate up my entire living space at the time. i also got it because it has a lot of nice grey parts, but i'm really reluctant to take it apart. i still have the command bridge from the smaller star destroyer in one piece just because it was so cool. i wish i'd gotten the UCS falcon, but in the end i went for lots of smaller kits instead.

i'm still working my way through this year and last year's christmas gifts, though. i tend to save the big ones for last, so i've got quite a few big ones stockpiled lol. i'm kinda waiting with them until i get more of my loose parts sorted and have more table space to display them.

I thought about getting that set too.. but for the cost, and how undiverse it is.. I couldnt do it.
I watched a youtube of it being put together, and it just looks mind numbingly similiar all the way through.

I wish they made some more bad ass Technic stuff.

Nice! I used to love building lego sets.

After a few years they all ended up in the same box and I would build random things with all the pieces, but I have not built one in so long.

There is a guy who posted saying he just bought the same set, and built in 8hrs with 1 break for Wing Stop with family.

I dunno about that....

This is my halfway point, 8hrs in.

the death star is insanely cool. it's not actually that many pieces, but it's got minifigs out the ass, which is why its so expensive. minifigs always drive the price up. i always wanted the Death Star II, the one under construction, but again went for the smaller kits instead.

my favorite part about the UCS star destroyer sets is their scale model comparisons! I should take some pics so you guys can see. The Executor comes with the mini Imperial II Tekki posted. The Imperial II came with a miniature Tantive IV. The Tantive IV didn't come with any mini, but it's on a much more human scale. The Tantive IV is kinda disassembled a bit, but you should still be able to get a decent idea. Tomorrow!

edit: Nice, Tekki! Looks like just the command deck, upper hull plating, engines, and stand to go! The upper hull plating is a little awkward to attach, iirc. It sits at such a low angle and it can't flip up so it kept splintering into smaller fragments. but then, my build area wasn't very good, so idk, that may have been it. The stand is actually the one thing that bothered me: I didn't feel like I got it attached very tightly, but I couldn't tell because it's just too damn big to handle easily. I think I would have preferred they have you attach the stand before the upper hull plating or engines, when it's still fairly manageable.
