Monstrosity: Acquiring Species

Not that this is the right thread for the topic, but the only Meteor related skills in the dat are Meteor Strike and Ecliptic Meteor.

Edit: just realized that Meteor strike is from Ifrit so the only mob related is Ecliptic.

The only behemoth i've actually seen is the ks99 one and he uses it, never casts it. Never see any damage taken i just lose hp too.

My mobs: Rabbit75, Tiger 75 (unlocked byakko), Coeurl 91, Opo 90, Gnole 75. Not sure which are required but I know that its more than 75 Gnole.
Costs 10k Infamy. No mp. Going out to level it now to check on jobs.

Edit: It's blue box. No quest from the npc yet.

And are you slow? As i was refering to behemoth's version of it which may or may not rely on said spell being learned. It may be a TP move for all we know. Which i am hoping for as the spell would 99.9 % get interupted naturally.

Without anyone actually unlocking behemoth its anyone's guess.

That's level 75+ everything in rabbit path. I guess manticore and cerb are in sheep path, I wonder if that one's even doable right now?

KB,KS99 and Apollyon Behemoth boss all cast meteor, It looks like an AoE comet with multiple comets dropping. I think back in the day ppl were able to hack .dats and get certain phrases in auto translate such as AMII before those came out, Phalanx II and also Meteor II and Holy II

Ok so im my defence i solo it as beast and am always too far away to see if its really a cast. I just lose hp mysteriously. I never get the dmg reports from it.

Yes, Elasmoth and the Orth version of cerb are both purchasable skins.

So. Looking at behe and both lizard combo unlocks, it may be that you need the entire tree at X level to get the combo. I happen to have rabbit at 75 and gnole 75 gave it. It could very well be that 90/99 sheep unlocks manticore then you need all of them at 60+ to get cerb. I guess i'm asking, does anyone have sheep over 75?

Haven't seen this mentioned (or i just missed it if so) so thought I would throw this out there.

there is a pattern involving the instinct I cost that should help figure out the unlocks still missing. For example look at Adamantoise... Lizzard(2) > Buggard(4) > Wivre(6) > Adamantoise(8). I was able to find this on everything known so far with one exception, the Sheep. Everything you start with or just buy outright starts with a cost of 2 except the sheep starts with 4 and is followed by 4s with ram and dhalmel. I think that one is just a mistake or something (tho i could be wrong).

If this theory is correct Manticore can be one of 3 possibilities... Rabbit > Tiger > or Sheep > Ram or (and this ones my guess) Sheep > Dhalmel. Also does not seem likely Manticore will be involved in Cerberus.

Well now that behemoth has been found I guess i'll keep on going down the sheep path to see if cerb gets unlocked. I only have sheep to 50 and ram to 40 so far but i'm going pretty fast. Planning on getting ram, buffalo and marid to 60 and if nothing happens there, try dhalmel to 60 and then sheep as high as possible.

Vanderleest and whoever else was lvling gnole, did you guys check to make sure there wasn't a quest to unlock a new skin? I'm sure you did but I wanna ask anyway. Seems really odd to go all the way to 75 and have no alt skin at all. Is there any other monster like that? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a quest to collect gnole souls or something. But maybe it's just 90+, or there isn't one at all.

I was looking forward to playing gnole until it was unlocked and discovered to be pretty terrible. It's a bummer too considering how much effort it takes to unlock the dang thing.

Yes we both checked, the other person is also on Bismarck, and I know they checked twice for quests/unlock after I told them I got behe. They took Gnole to 78, so I'm guessing they are going to 90 or 99 before doing Opo to get behe; but they'll have to confirm that.

Based on the dat for skills, there are a few that only standing Gnole can use. So I assume there is a point when get the standing version, but the rabbit path is ridiculous in what you have to do to unlock things.
