One issue with titanium is that it is significantly harder than gold, so if you have an issue where your fingers swell the doctors can have problems cutting it off. My mom got frostbite and they cut off her rings in order to treat the hand. I'm not sure if this is still a problem this was 15 years ago.
And definitely how you do it is going to end up being more important than what ring you end up getting!
did no one else go the gamily heirloom route? hit my fiance with my grandmother's ring and it was a slam dunk. Let her pick a new band when we went to get it fitted. Since my only cost for the engagement ring was $400 bones for a new band I was able to get her a nicer wedding band.
I had four family heirloom rings offered to me for scrapping/resetting the stones (three grandmothers' rings - one from her side - and one great grandmother's), but she didn't want stones. If you are going the diamond route, this might be something to look into if your family hasn't bred like rabbits. My family has enough unsellable shiny rocks to attract a legion of crows.
Congrats dude! She loves you and I am sure anything you pick she will wear with pride.
Go shopping for engagement rings together unless you want it to be a huge surprise and she doesn't know you want to ask her.
My husband and I had already discussed marriage, so we shopped together for rings at Shane Co. They were really informative about how to understand diamond grading, and we looked at several stones under the microscopes. It was a really good experience. I think that the flaws inside some diamonds give it character and if you can't see them with the naked eye, who cares?
I always loved the three-stone setting (Ksandra, I'm with you on the separate band), and we picked out the center stone together. The center diamond we chose actually had two different grades on it, and they always sell at the lower grade, so I think we ended up getting a pretty good deal. Almost a carat for $2600. Here's a pic of my setting - we got all this for $5400 and a lifetime maintenance warranty.
Also, he didn't propose right away after we went shopping. He waited like a month and I was still really surprised. It's all in the presentationGood luck!
