My ethernet coard won't fit into this new motherboards internet slot, the slot seems slimmer than my coord and has 2 metal prongs seemingly one side of it

Literally no idea what you're talking about now. Did you replace the motherboard but not replace the I/O shield or something?

You see on the right side at the top there are those 2 tabs pointing down in both of those openings. Those 2 tabs are partially blocking the clip side of my ethernet port enough so that I can't fit the coord in even when I push pretty hard. I didn't install it myself so I don't know if they were supposed to put those tabs into a slot somewhere so they are out of the way or something. I can't push them in any further to make room but I probably could pull them out somehow which would probably break those tabs which I don't want to do in case they are needed for something.

Oh, the metal tabs on the I/O port
Typically they're bent inwards so that they're touching the metal part of the port they are around, in order to provide a good EMF seal and ground the motherboard (though your motherboard is grounded like six ways anyways if it was installed properly)

if you CAN bend them in so that they're touching the outside metal, I certainly recommend it. If you can't, it wont cause any problems for you to snip them off.
