It sure would be nice if the NCAA made a rule that top 10 teams could not have noon games. Our next home game, and the first one that a bunch of my friends are actually coming back to tailgate for, is a noon game. God damn it.

They did, but in the first season after working off the post season ban they went from #1 in preseason polls to finishing unranked. Doesn't matter who you are, that won't look good on a resume.

Yeah he was working with nowhere near the talent people thought he had, through a conference title/bowl ban, and with 10 less scholarships every year than anybody else, alongside a resurgent UCLA.

He got the job because anybody worth a damn would have laughed in their faces at the time, but it was a place with enough potential in it to get Monte involved for his son's sake.

tbh proving worthy of that #1 ranking they got would have been one of the great cfb accomplishments of all time
