I know it's a tv show and everything but you are literally victim-blaming jesse for being abused by a man who's been a father figure to him for the past year and a half and ruined his life in every way possible

I love Jesse and I think he's a well-written character whose instances of "being a little bitch" are believable and understandable, but this is a little much. Jesse is an adult. Ain't nobody gonna gaslight me, I tell you that much.

ITT: People never having been around someone that is severely depressed.

As someone who doesn't let himself be happy, despite how good his life is, I get being depressed.

But it's not a valid argument. Jesse desires change, just not change for himself. Rather than run off to Alaska just to isolate himself and start fresh, he decides to burn down Walt's house.

Jesse is not a victim; Jesse is a conspirator in a criminal enterprise. Let's not forget that in our desire to be emphatic with him. His hang up is, "I want to have a conscience while stealing and cooking meth while everyone else does all the dirtier things."

edit: figured I should be less pithy than this. You're trying to say that Jesse can't be mentally affected or negatively harmed by anything Walt does because he's a criminal and so anything that happens is just hazard and happenstance for his line of work. Walt did what you are saying Jesse did (avoided getting his hands dirty) at the beginning of the series; keep in mind that Jesse didn't kill anyone until Gale at the end of Season 3, and hasn't ever recovered from doing so fully. He's been portrayed throughout the series as an emotionally unstable person, with a family who hates him and little ambition in life UNTIL Walt comes along and gives him some meaning with cooking. Walt gave him stability and praise where no one else did, and so he became dependent on Walt for his own emotional well-being. When things started falling apart and he couldn't trust Walt anymore, he started breaking down. We've seen this throughout Season 5 and it's gradually gotten worse into 5b, where it apparently reached its apex in the last episode.

Walt destroys the lives of everyone he touches, and Jesse is no exception to this. The only person in the main cast who isn't a victim is the perpetrator of it all.
