Pretty much this. Victim implies innocence, and Jesse is not innocent.

The fucker masterminded a plot to steal 1,000 gallons of methylamine. And I have to feel sorry for him because Walt manipulated him and made him feel bad?

I feel like Talint would take the "She was asking for it" stance in a rape case.

Bunch of war-on-drugs enablers in this thread.

Like, are you reading the thread? I'm not the one calling him a victim.

    -edit-

I genuinely don't feel for Jesse. The man had opportunities at all times to walk away, and instead he lets himself get manipulated and used by Walt over and over again. I think we all agree on this, except on the "lets himself get manipulated" part. Some attribute that to Jesse being a "victim" (your words, not mine), but therein lies the problem. I think that, maybe the first or even second time Jesse gets manipulated and has doubts, I could see the argument for Jesse being a "victim"; but Jesse never learned from it. Every time he had a doubt, he opted to just flat out believe Walt, and never once thought about taking the safe bet. Brock's in the hospital, and Walt potentially sent him there? But maybe he didn't? Why the hell didn't he just say, "I want this all out of my life?"

Because he wanted to keep doing all the meth business related stuff. And that's where he loses me. Not only did he want to keep going in the business, he didn't want to harm or injure anyone along the way, as if though the two can co-exist. Some attribute Mike's fatherly oversight for Jesse, but none ever seem to point out the fact that Mike could not convince Jesse of any cold, hard truths when it came to the dirtier side of business (see the plotting of the train escape, where Jesse winds up convincing Mike; or where Jesse convinces Mike about Lydia).

By the time Jesse sticks his finger in the electrical socket for the fifth-sixth time, it becomes grating. And it makes him a whiny bitch.

Anyone trying to draw a line saying who is "X" and "not X" in this show is just comically missing the point. Everyone gets to take turns being the victim of the episode, and almost any character of any importance has their demons they they either try to embrace or bury.

look, if you don't understand the cycle of abuse that takes place and why it's so difficult if not impossible for him to "just leave," I can't be the one to explain it to you and I sincerely hope you never experience any domestic violence or abuse in your life so you have to find out first-hand.

If you think in black and white by saying Jesse is or is not a victim, you don't really get this show.

To be fair, in this story, all he had to do was get in the car and disappear forever.

Walt kills people who try to leave. And has threatened Jesse in countless ways on numerous attempts for Jesse to get out of the business. Any perceived "out" he had was just a ploy, and him going back seemingly of his own will is due to the consistent abuse and threats he's faced.
