So, never having played a Diablo game except for this one for like 2 hours when it first came out, is now the time to buy and try?

The game is currently the best it's ever been.
That being said, it's still rather lacking in the end-game department. Having unattainable levels of Greater Rifts to push through won't cut it, long-term, but it's all there is right now. I'm hoping they eventually allow a tougher difficulty that Torment VI in the normal adventure mode, at least ... any well-equipped character can steamroll T6 easy. Besides key hunting and Grifts, there's nothing.
It also seems to fizzle out after the newness of major patches and/or new seasons wears off.
I'd say yes, go get it, it's a great game.
if you need something to tinker with for a couple weeks i'd say it's an ok buy. i was hoping this would tide me over until ffxiv expansion but it came up short about a month, as there's just not enough content and i stopped getting meaningful drops.
If anyone wants to team up on D3 let me know. Wallz#1230
How exactly is damage calculated with dual wielding 1 handed crossbows? When I equip 2 of them my damage drops vs wearing a quiver. What is the benefit to dw xbows?
Are Paragon points usable on all characters equally from the same pool, and if they are all 70, the tnl bar is universal amongst all of them?
Some skills alternate damage between which bow you have equipped. Others use main-hand only like RoV and Sentry. Basically, I would advise against dual-wielding unless you're using a build specifically tailored toward it. And right now, quivers tend to offer better legendary affixes than hand crossbows. Only real exceptions are Calamity and maybe Balefire if you're a fire build of some sort.
And yeah, all chars within the same mode/season share paragon. When seasons end, what they have gets added to your total pool. So, it's not like level 300 + level 300 = level 600. It'd probably be more like level 450.
To clarify, all characters of the same mode/season do share Paragon points, but they do not deplete the pool (in other words, if you have 400 Paragon points from your main character then you start a secondary character, that character will get his/her own 400 points to spend from level 1, and will not reduce the number your main character gets).
Yes. Your new character won't accrue new paragon point exp, until it reaches 70, but you can immediately spend your paragon points that you have accumulated. If you switch back to a lvl 70, and obtain a new paragon level/point, you can go back and spend it on your sub lvl 70 character.
Looking at a Nat's guide, particularly the 1 someone linked here, 1 of the gems he recommends is Bane of the Trapped however that build does nothing to "slow" or "chill" anything, what should I use in it's place in that guide?
If it's the one with Stampede for Rain of Vengeance then the knockback counts as a CC for the sake of Bane of the Trapped. The gem works with any CC including stun/fear/knockback/etc.
Also, if mobs are within 20 yards of you, you're slowing them with Bane of the Trapped's second effect.
Can DW weapons be both socketed with green gem and it'll take effect? Aside from damage rating of offhand weapon, all other stats will matter, like the dex, etc correct?
Yes, CHD%, dex, and all other affixes apply. Although again, DW crossbows is generally situational like Danettas for bounty speed running.
For when I ever get a Calamaity or Balefire to drop for Nat's. Thanks for the info.

Oh snap, Torment X
Well, color me surprised. This looks pretty impressive. Definitely going to pick this up again once patch hits.
Glad to see new Torment Levels, and adding legendary procs, as passive skills, sounds like an interesting concept. I need to see more details, on the Cube, before I can say more.
Being able to cube a Legendary and equip its special property as a passive is pretty awesome. A WD could cube a Dagger of Darts and use the legendary property alongside Starmetal Kukri, and could also gain the T&T and Mask of Jeram properties at the same time while using 6pc Zunimassa's. Plus, now they can even go F/R and still get the legendary property from Small Man's Finger. Huge, huge upgrade for pet docs.
