My general preference during 2.0 was T2/3 solo depending on the character, and cranking it up past that for hellfire ring farming.

I'd imagine I'll settle into this again once my characters are in full legendaries again (and Crusader has Ice Climbers since Frozen fucks me in the ass super hard)

Honestly, all these percentages mean shit to me without knowing the default rate. A 25% greater chance of a 0.01% rate is still a shit rate, for example.

Right, but 25% less of a shit rate than anywhere else in the game.

To me, that list just reaffirms that spamming lower levels is more efficient (though not necessarily more fun) for loot farming, especially for squishies like me. Past a certain point, the damage increase doesn't really matter since one-shot is one-shot regardless of how hard they overkill me, and that happens a lot sooner than T6, lol. As such, it's mostly the HP vs the Legendary rates that interest me, and the HP rises faster.

The higher damage also makes speed farming harder since denser mob packs become more of a threat in addition to taking longer to kill. It's also more dangerous to run past mobs in favor of Elite sniping since there's always the possibility of them catching up while you're whittling down a pack and further complicating the fight. It potentially necessitates clearing mobs that you might otherwise avoid, which takes longer since they also have more HP.

Basically, Bliz needs to scale the rewards harder if they want to incentivize clearing at a player's highest tolerance. Until then, the only play T6 is going to see are people who are in it for the challenge, or people who are exploiting something. Or people who just don't know better.

Maybe you should stop playing on farm-core mode if you want a good game.

TIL this is a real item http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/bott...on-of-kulleaid and now I'm curious.. do legendary potions just take the place of your current potion if its in inventory?

Put it in the potion slot and it's basically infinite as long as it's in your inventory.

Everyone has their own personal balance of goals that make D3 worth playing. Personally, I like some mix of big numbers (relative to the mob's HP bar), new and shiny loot, and enough of a challenge that I feel like I'm playing well when things go how I want them to, but not so much that I spend more time dead than alive and/or an inordinate amount of time fighting/clearing any one thing.. I'm only arguing on the subject of efficiency because an assertion was made that higher is better for the sake of attaining Legendary loot, which I don't agree with. That being said, I don't particularly prioritize efficiency in my own play, but I don't particularly ignore it either.

I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything here, nor am I complaining. I'm simply responding to what was posted, based on my own experiences and observations.

It doesn't take very long for a character to hit the point that your only way to improve is set items and higher paragon levels, which means normal mode is right out.

you have to remember that hc players are coming from the mindset of 10m+ toughness just to even look at torment 1, a glass cannon build really isn't even a thing over there

some people really prefer getting much tougher and feeling invincible, others can enjoy a build that kills t3 azmo in 20 seconds and dies if it doesn't get it done; that's just not an option for them to even try in order to understand

but yeah, definitely need to account for paragon gains every bit as much as gold/items when figuring what difficulty you should be on

I enter T1 on Kitana DH with about 5mil ehp good me thinks. Not sure where you get 10m+ at least..

Even my tank monk entered T1 at ~7m ehp

The key factor in farming t1 isn't toughness, it's getting the dps without dropping to 2m toughness by rerolling away every defensive stat, so that you can kill elite packs without needing 5 minutes and half a map of kiting space.

Still, if you think that the game is poorly balanced because the legendary drop rate scales slower than HP, then you don't understand the intention of Blizzard's balance. The intention isn't to incentivize T(n), but rather give you an option if you're destroying T(n-1) so badly that you spend more time travelling than killing.

Also the game isn't intended to be corpse-ran--if you want that, go play Dark Souls--so complaints about balance while corpse-running your way through a difficulty way above your gear is kinda dumb.

My wizard sits around 6mil toughness, and its rather invincible on T1/T2 even with a mostly damage build (The Kill-shield Trait and Magic Weapon shield are the two defensive i utilize). Its more in the resist all than anything else, so I don't mind giving up VIT here or there for extra dmg. Resist-alls are around -82~-84% damage reduction right now.

I could probably do higher but I enjoy T1/T2 for the killspeed with my friends.

So I've been using a ww Barb build with Avalanche because it's just fun, but I recently got a 2h and bumped up to 400k dps. Should I roll some kind of boulder toss build now that I'm 2h?

Tbh, if you wanted to rock Boulder Toss you'd probably want the Three Hundredth Spear. You could do work with a HoTA build while rocking a 2 hander.
