    Gaming Music Request

Looking for suggestions for background/ambience music for GenCon. I am the IT guy for a large portion of the convention space and am looking for suggestions for some cool ideas for music to be playing in the background.

Rules: No Vocals, has to be instrumentals.

    Stuff I already have playing:

    Diablo 2 (Tristram/Act1 Town/Random)
    Elder Scrolls Themes
    LoTR segments
    World of Warcraft (variety)
    EverQuest II Theme
    Final Fantasy 7 (Jenova Remix)
Final Fantasy XI (Gustaberg/Ronfaure/Selbina (just because I could))

Looking for some suggestions. If you are at GenCon, or just like playing tabletops, what would you like to hear while playing?

    gracias

Final Fantasy X - The Prelude

This always held a spot on my mp3 player. Due to the nature of the setting and where the music played, I thought it was very fitting for such an atmosphere (loads of people hanging around, waiting, chatting). it's also very upbeat.

Mirror's Edge has a bunch of nice ambience music, the last 2 levels are especially great:

EDIT: I'm also sure a bunch of people would love some Sim City themes. Some Age of Empires 2 tracks (no specifics) would be cool too.

You could play some Ragnarok Online music. I have around 125 songs from that game alone on my iphone and I even took some out. The music ranges from up beat to some more relaxing. Id recommend listening to some of them to see if you like them.

I've always been partial to disc 4 of the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack. It's proper old style game music though. There's also Piano Collections Final Fantasy VIII which is uh, played on a piano so might sound better? I can't tell you which ones have vocals, the music is on my home computer.

Sorry, one (well, 2) more. It's a 2 odd minute track, but I linked the extended version. Extremely relaxing, if a bit depressing (but no, not really, it feels nice!), but when I played Castlevania SOTN this has got to be one of the top area themes:

1 other one I always quite liked the sound of:

Since Laguna mentioned FFVIII, I'll paste a few links:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lB50uIqpms - Trust Me -- very relaxing/smooth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfYorf2g-sc - Balamb Garden~Ami mash (official) -- very very relaxing and nostalgic (Balamb is played in ... balamb, while Ami was primarily played during the huge flash back near the end of Disk 2 when everyone were kids ... at the basket ball court I believe where it was wrecked by Galbaldia/Edea

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku0PC5XqGgU - cute theme of Timber Owls, Rinoa's resistance army. I quite like the curious-tone behind it, or the "planning" or "talking" tone it gives

More stuff from XI. Game had tons of good music, and some amazing artists have covered them. Other FF games, as well. Skies of Arcadia had some nice ones with a variety of theming. Halo, Borderlands, Mass Effect, Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing series' all have good tunes. Star Wars and Trek, of course. Jurassic Park. Indiana Jones. Spend some time looking around on youtube, and maybe Pandora. I have a John Williams station that has evolved to include a lot of game/movie music and it works pretty well. Pandora may suck ass when you want to hear a specific song, but it's pretty good for finding interesting tracks. Maybe set up a few channels based on what you've got and do a Shuffle track? Throw in some stations based on good game/movie composers like John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Keep rating them and you should find some new stuff.

Time is against me, as I have alot of different things going on right now. This is really just a quick setup to get some theme music going for the gamers right now. I just have a simple playlist on shuffle/repeat pumping into the space right now. I can't really afford enough time to look up songs right now. I appreciate the suggestions though, I'll try to check some of them out if/when I get some downtime

If you have specific tracks that you can provide a direct link to it would be much easier for me to get it out there. Got alot of rave reviews so far on just the FF music. Couple guys were just amazed that we had South Gustaberg music playing in such a large place lol

Just grab the entire (3 disc) Chrono Cross soundtrack and pick through it for stuff you like. There's tons of good material on there (although some of it has ambient vocals, dunno if that goes against your no-vocal policy).

Whaaaat, there's maybe 5 tracks tops with vocals. I second using Bastion.

Skies of Arcadia- I love this game, so my appreciation of its music may just be nostalgia. (lots of videos)

Most of these are just main themes, their respective IPs obviously have tons more music out there. There are hundreds of covers, as well. You can find a LOT of stuff just by looking at descriptions and going to peoples' sites, looking up composers, just plain browsing youtube, etc.
