Do you even need the foragers to catch the fish required for the supra? (Alt question: Can you buy the fish required on the market boards?) Seems like a big fat waste of time to bother with forager's at all if you're just going to replace it so quickly.

Edit: No you cannot buy Forager's fish. Yes you can BARELY hit the Gathering needed for Olgois with perfect melds and spinach quiche HQ + maybe FC buff.

Edit2: But even with forager's and 380+ gather you can still lose catch on Olgoi's out the ass. I think I caught 3/20+ hits.

Yeah, Olgoi hits for me are 1/10 so far. I can't imagine going without forager's. Truthfully, forager's is mad easy. Took me a while to notice due to anime/netflix fishing or having kids in my house press buttons for me but if you fish at night it's extremely easy. I was wrapping up finally getting my hat yesterday and noticed I didn't catch any mahi mahi at night. Was beautiful. 2 hq soverign in a row, a 3rd like 2 casts later. Not to mention all the NQ sovereign for me to desynth

Nothing more infuriating than getting no HQ of the fish you need to mooch, but HQing everything else. There was a double heat wave yesterday, not a single mooch, but hey I was 43% HQ on all the other fish I caught. . .

The melds aren't that bad; I would skip Forager's if you're a relatively new FSH trying to catch up. I used to be really hardcore into fishing, but stopped for six months or so. Last night, I spent ~600k last night to fully meld my gear and buy two i70 ACCs I was missing. I'd seen reports that 348 works, but I tried with 346 gathering anyway (two Militia ACCs), hooked an Olgoi, lost it, and got the message that my gathering level was insufficient (so 348 being the minimum is pretty likely). With the two i70 ACCs I needed, Spinach Quiche HQ and FC buff, I have 348 gathering exactly. I caught an Olgoi within the first 8 Heatwave game hours (lost two).

Not saying my luck is typical, but I have a hard time believing that going for Forager's simply to reduce the rate of Olgoi loss is a wise time investment namely because of the bold/underline statement you made. Gear is below (materia in parentheses):

Can confirm you can fish the olgoi things without the i70 rod, it does require the i70 accessories and the fc buff, and even then you hit the bare minimum to fish it. 350 gathering where the minimum is reportedly 348.

The only untradeable fish are Sovereigns iirc. Maybe Olgoi too but that'd be it.

Yeah I've had mine up for 750k since I caught them. My server seems slow to catch up on this stuff though.

Anyone know of a decent CUL desynth fish for 85-100? I've been fishing up white two stars, but those are in the .07-.09 range of skillups. I can't imagine that lasting all the way to 100.
