According to this Honey Worms are definitely your best bet. That said, I hate using consumable bait so I used a silver spoon lure for that one.

Pretty sure it's not needed but to double check, do you need to be on the quest for final finishing quest to get them all? Some of the pre reqs are dumb as hell. I want those 30 points soon ish D:
Pretty sure you can catch any fish at any time with or without quests.
And I feel you on Imperial Goldfish. Of all 112 fish that one took the longest by far considering there are no weather or time requirements for it.
No you don't need to be on it.
I got lucky on imperial goldfish and got it my first time out with little stress. But using live bait is better because it's quicker and you can cancel casts you know aren't what you want without worrying about losing your lures. Honey worm definitely has the best all-round catch rate for silverfish (that goes for anyplace you find them, too).
This fish suuuuuuuuucks

fuck namitaro. triple thunder window tonight, hooked giant taki a single time, then hooked nami 3x in 1 buff and he got away all three times.
Lost four jigs fishing for Lone Rippers in two windows. I lost more jigs today than I have the past two months.
yus!!!
Finally got Helidick. The nightmare is over. 112/112
Fuuu that means I missed the window ; ; Nam can eat a bag of dicks as well. Caught 8 big fish out of 12, and all attempts with buff are fish gets away or no bite on Nam ._.
just got bonytongue, which means:

Grats dude!
I just hit 50 FSH, how much do I have to hate myself to go for 106-112 big fish? Got Forager's Rod so far and almost have hat, guessing I should get the Olgoi's next for the Supra and then just slowly work my way through them? Is fully melded Foragers 100% required to hit 106? 'cause I am cheap and still rocking fisher AF right now but it seems like that is enough for a lot of fish, especially with FC buff/food.
it takes a lot of time. some of them are easier than others, depends on how many layers of RNG the particular fish has. The only forager pieces I recommend getting are Body and Hands, legs and feet only give an extra 3gth 3perc combined when fully melded and you don't need it to catch anything in the game atm. Only the bigger fish like Hagfish and living legends will require Forager body/hands.
Supra + Spinach Quiche + Forager Head/Body/Hands + Fisher legs/feet + Dodore Belt + Gth/Perc melded Gryphonskin accessories is what I used for 106, but can catch all 112 that way (albeit, prior to IW rod you need FC gathering and perception buffs for some fish; for example Nepto Dragon and Shonisaurus require gathering buff, Shoni requires Perception food and buff to HQ the mahar).
I suggest this website:
http://en.ff14angler.com/timetable.php/
Clicking a fish will give you bait information and clicking the zone gives a table with the approximate % rate that you can expect each fish with certain types of bait; you can also see in the comments how much Gathering/Perception you may need to catch/HQ a fish (google translate helps here). There are some window false positives, so not every green box means a window is up; some false positive reports of catching fish in clear/fair weather because a cast occurred prior to weather going away but the fish was caught after weather changed, for example. Just make sure to pay attention to the actual conditions that a fish requires in order to be caught. Also worth mentioning that the site doesn't take into account multiple weather in a row conditions and will instead light up green any time the second weather is present. Use the skywatcher part of the site to see when the weathers line up properly or track a 24h fish in that zone to watch for it.
Awesome, thanks bro.
Same thing, different layout, links back to the above: http://ffxivfisher.appspot.com/, I prefer this one for easier filtering of fish I've already caught but I keep both bookmarked.
1 and 2 star big fish are super easy. 3 and up are the asshole-spawns.
Can filter ones you've caught on angler too. Click the setting gear and then click the red mark and it will be hidden from the timetable when you exit the settings window.
