I wasn't, he had another small seizure after we got home from the vet but then the injections they gave him kicked in and I'm sure he's feeling pretty good on that valium because he's just been sleeping most of the day. They gave us a prescription for more Valium over the weekend so at the very least he'll be comfortable for the next few days.

That shit is the fucking worst. Its like watching your grandpa seizure himself to death except there's no chance your dog banged a hooker in the Korean war.

Yeah, he pissed himself laying down but since then he's been drinking more water and we got him to eat something so he's been improving. We think the seizures made his hip/knee problem worse, especially considering he took a couple hard falls yesterday so he's more afraid to get up and move around, but he was slowly walking around more by the end of the day. He mostly just wants to be wherever we're at.

Absolutely kills me to see him like this, but at least he's relatively comfortable for now and his appetite is back so he's definitely feeling a lot better than yesterday. Yesterday was absolutely terrible, he freaked out twice and at one point was howling. I was barely keeping it together.

as my first dog got older she was getting slower, etc, and a few months after she turned 15 she deteriorated really quickly. at first i thought she just had a cold or something but the vet said it was just age. she would lose control of her bladder and bowels, and she was always very good about going outside, so when she didn't make it she would cry and try to cover it up. she was so ashamed. One day she was asleep in my room and woke up, started to get up, lost control of her bowels, and couldn't get her hind legs off the ground. she was crying and trying to drag herself down the hall to the front door. that's when i knew it was time. i hugged her, cleaned her up, took her to the vet the next day and had her put to sleep. he said it wouldnt hurt her, but she growled and grumbled, so i think it did. i cried. i still tear up when i think about her too much, and its been a couple years.

i hope your dog gets better, dude. no one can ever be a better friend than a good dog.

Yeah, and he is the best dog. I can count on one hand the amount of times he's snapped at me and they were all well within his rights to snap. He's an inside dog (I genuinely don't understand people who keep their dogs outside). He knows when you're feeling bad and will come lay next to you or put his head in your lap, he rarely barks at people, even when they knock at the door, but knows when somebody isn't supposed to be there. He always greets you when you get home and pouts for a few days when we get back from vacation. Great with kids. He has had a fantastic life, never hit him (the one time somebody actually hurt him I self-pitched a baseball and he jumped to grab it and my aluminum bat hit him square in the head, complete accident and I felt horrible for the entire week but thankfully no lasting damage other then he probably had a massive headache for a couple of days) and he's had at least a few acres of land for most of his life. The only thing I would change about the time I've had him is I would have played with him more instead of spending so much time playing XI or other video games. The entire family has loved him from the day we got him though and he knows it.
