Beta 4 Results

I had to work a fair bit of the beta, but still got more accomplished than I anticipated.
Main story done to Ifrit encounter
LNC 20 and ready to turn in 20 quest

Only thing that sucked was no really good drops from the dungeons I did with my buddies who were lagging a little behind me. We saw a few repeat pieces of gear. I just wanted the spear.

Between the 5-6 hours it took to be able to create my character on my LS's server and then my job hitting me with their own brand of Error: 3102 by putting me back on weekends for the first time in like 4 months, I had my fun but didn't get much done.

I was really gunning to finish Ifrit but I spent way too much time doing every starter city quest I came across. Thanks to the extension I came closer though. I got home from work at about 2:30am and read about it at like 2:35am, went hard till 8:02!

Was hoping to do dungeons yesterday with some of you guys + me and andrew since we didn't need any gear it'd be 100% to you guys. Damn 3102.

Sucks dude. I got lucky with the three I got in 5 runs. Saw so much MRD/GLD shit, though. Fair amount of caster stuff, too. Had a run with my friends as GLD CNJ THM LNC, and we saw the pink ARC/BRD weapon. We had a good laugh.

The spear is one of the only things I got! LNC is only 3 atm! Didn't get shit/passed on stuff until I went with my LS who all have 50s and didn't want that stuff.

How was people's experience in the dungeons? I avoided them due to fear of 3102. Not expecting a lot for the early game instances, but curious nonetheless. E.g. are they worth running, and if so, why? E.g. because of the fun factor, or because its great xp, gear that will last 10 lvls, etc

For XP it would depend on the class. Great for CON, and pretty meh for the rest.

I enjoyed the dungeons quite a bit. On THM trying to keep things slept and DD main target was a ton of fun, and I had even more fun on CNJ healing everyone, but I'm also with Sath, after about the 3rd run it gets a little bland. Like everything probably depends on the group your with as well, I actually had some decent pugs and had fun joking on them and shit. Community seems decent so far.

I honestly found it harder to keep mobs slept then to just DOT them and move onto to nuking primary target. Too many AoEs from the tanks to bother with that shit, and healing is never a problem. Even after pulling an extra group of mobs (for a total of like 6 during a Sas run), the CNJ never dropped below 75% hp. Maybe things will change in the future, but probably not. Super tanking is apparently the way to do things now.

16 GLA on my Legacy Character.

Would've hit 20 on my GLA, but my friend got 3102'd on the first day so I refrained from doing dungeons, then I got 3102'd on the second day.

I only ever had GLD tanks so keeping mobs slept was easy, except for that one DD who didn't know to attack the tank's mob.

What I didn't get across was that it didn't matter. When you can have double the mobs attacking the tank then intended, but the tank never go below 50% hp and the healer never below 75% mp, what's the point in taking that time? Just drop dots on all of them instead and keep nuking (I'd skip the dots even but they do about a nukes worth of damage).

Also, not that I'm complaining, but I found it weird that mobs that have DoTs on them are still able to be slept. Useful, but weird lol.

I assume that's how people are going to attempt to solo shit in the future. Good thing anything that matters so far has too much HP and a 30-min timer (FATE).

Was on my way to 20-ing both WVR and BTN then 3102 got me on Saturday night. Wasn't up much to really finishing both since I was too tired by the time the maint got extended.

Best part of the beta was doing an all in house LNC THM THM ACN party where I had topaz Carbuncle main tank the first 3 dungeons while I main healed. Topaz was a goddamn e-thug in this test.

Got caught in that quest bug that halted my progress quite a bit, couldn't get passed the lv8 main scenario quest thanks to it so I never got access to duty finder, dungeons, or airship(yay for stuck @ limsa). Still was able to get a bit done despite this though, played around with materia melding, crafted some, got ACN to 20, also completed the blacksmith, armorer, fishing, MRD, and ACN class quests to 20.

Had to level with pretty much fates exclusively so ended up getting the 100 fate achievement, lol.

Main Story - Ifrit Ready, gotta sign up for GC ASAP for those daily turn-ins for seals.

Conjurer - 16 (Started in Grid, needed it for GLD extra actions, cba to finish it to 20 right now. Maybe later.)
Gladiator - 20 (My main, started as soon as I got airship access. 3/7 non-accessory plunder gear in only 4 dungeon runs :D)

Miner - 18
Botanist - 17
Fisher - 16
If I had just stayed in East Than and kept grinding out alumen I could have probably gotten Miner 20, but fuck me I needed a change after hitting two stacks, even the second stack was just to sell, to cover some costs.

And my retainers are damn near full of materials. Goddamn culinarian. And if I want to be prepared for any GC turn-ins I can't get rid of any of it. More retainers plox.
Just need to find what mobs have the best drop rates for animal skins and hides, then I'm set to start crafting. And I'll need to get on that, buying the gear for my gatherers instead of making it was dipping into my cash balance more than I like.

I got ARC to 20. I really wanted to get CNJ and THM to 20, but 90000 put a halt on that. I got some crafting in, that I didn't plan on because of 90000, but 1302 put a halt to that.
