BG Football PickEms (College, NFL, Eliminator)

Two weeks left in Eliminator.

Four teams all with the most points -- Azazel, Byrd, Bregor, Soa (Highflyer).

I've reviewed the official rules, and the official tiebreakers are not helpful.

The winner is the team with the most points, regardless of winning streak(s).
The first tiebreaker is going to be the longest streak to start a season. It's not an official thing, but it's what we had last year and what we kind of discussed earlier, and the one guy of the four who is hurt by it (Soa) won Eliminator because of the same tiebreaker last year. The other three entries are all tied.
Second tiebreaker will be ESPN's official tiebreaker -- highest point differential for the entire season.
The third tiebreaker (in the unlikely event it is needed) is not going to be what ESPN says -- earliest entry. That's dumb, and I'd win it because I started the group. It'll be the week 17 point differential, then week 16, etc. That is what it has been in years past.

Someone remind me next year when I post the game Pick'Ems to line all these out before the season starts.

I'm debating whether to pick the best matchups for the last two weeks, or just roll with the two best teams I haven't used yet. Still can't believe I lost twice fading the Jags.

OK, with one week to go, there's three teams left tied for first. Of those teams, Bregor and I had the longest streak to start the season, so if we both win, it comes down to point differential. Feel free to doublecheck me, but here's the math:

Byrd: 4+10+28+24+14+6+18+32+4-2+13-3+3+23+10+13 = 197
Bregor: 4+1+28+32+14+17+18+18+4-2+13-7+21+1+1+10 = 173

So I win if I pick a winner this week, unless Bregor also picks a winner and the point differential between the two point differentials is 24 or more in his favor. If I miss, Bregor wins. If Bregor misses, Soa wins. If all three of us miss, Abandon, Intrinsic and Ryany enter the picture and I will worry about the math at that point.

Now I'm wondering if I should hedge and just pick a favorite that Byrd has used before, and hope his pick loses. 24 points is a lot to pick up in one week.

I'll be winning 106 person pool if I can get just three of these teams to cover - have a six point lead and ten of my competition's picks are different, he has to 8-2 them to tie me
CIN,PIT,DET,NYG,CAR,NE,DEN,SEA,NO, Oregon (fills with college games to make 20 picks every week)
Time for these teams to collapse harder than my fantasy players

Thanks, Bregor. It's been a good year for me in various Pick Em's. I won one money pool today for $200, have a 4:1 advantage in another one that will pay about $600, and won both Pigskin Pick Em and Eliminator. If I could prognosticate this well every year, I could retire.

I was just on their website, don't see Gridiron Playoff Challenge anywhere, I'll look tomorrow as it's late and I'm tired tonight, but for some reason I can't find it. Hope they didn't get rid of it this year.

I can't find it, I don't think they have it. There's nothing on last year's game to link to this game, I don't see anything about it on any of the ESPN Fantasy home pages.

Anybody have better luck than I do? Or know a site where we can play a similar game?

They usually have the contest up in place days or weeks in advance of the contest, allowing you to sign up, and then only filling in your predictions once the field is official. Note the World Cup Bracket Predictor is already up. Several times in the past, I have created leagues in advance of the tournament bracket/bowl games were announced, and just making the BG post when picks are able to be made.

If it does happen this year, it's going to be differently than anything else I've seen them do, which makes me think it's not going to happen at all.

I only ask because they have to set all of the salaries for playoff challenge, so it could take some time to set up.

I seem to remember it usually being up right away, though.
